On tap at Stone Oakquinox 2010. Dark amber pour, off-white head. Sweet malt, dark fruit, floral hops, brandy sweetness, and light spice. I very nice beer, Valley always seems to impress.

3L bottle shared by DrBill at Woodshop 5.0 (2/20/10): Pours a transparent golden brass with a nicely-lacing froth of white head. Aroma of soft semi-sweet biscuity malts with some floral grapefruity hops and lemon citrus with some hay funk and light earthiness. Starts with good fullness and lightly sweet Belgian malt with some fruity cherry and cranberry notes before a drier funky brett finish. Good complexity throughout.

Tasted at the 4th Annual Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest on 11/14/2009. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, touch of honey and orange. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal. Fruity and sweet, the brandy barrel adds a very nice sweetness to this beer. I like the flavors in this one more than the bourbon barrel version. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet.

Draught at the Bistro Barrelfest 09. Blond with a thick, lasting head. Fruity and lightly woody aroma. After some beers that were heavy on the malt and wood, this actually caught me a little off guard. The brandy barrel was subtle in the nose, but added a light spice that worked well with some more yeasty estery and phenolic notes. The flavor was lighter on the sweetness and grainy in the finish like, with some fruity yeasty flavors coming cherios in with light grape and vanilla. Lighter in body, which was one of the most striking qualities to me. lean and very drinkable for a 10+% BSA. Good, but for some reason the grainy note in the finish and the overall mix kept it from being one of my favorites of the day.
