From growler. A hazy golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as light notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet with primary notes of malt and alcohol, leading to a lightly alcoholic finish.

Bomber from Krausenjockey from back around 2007 poured a clear reddish amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of toffee, dried fruit, brandy, sherry and tobacco. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of toffee, brandy, sherry, dried fruit and light tobacco with a smooth lingering dried fruit finish.

UPDATED: JUN 6, 2008 Bottle… SMAACMSM O-Town Throwdown, Part SeptThis beer rocks!... Clear, caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. The aroma is an intoxicating whirlpool of buttery caramel, brandy, whiskey, wood and golden raisins. Full-bodied and syrupy with restrained carbonation. Lots of caramel malt and residual sugar with lesser degrees of alcohol and dark fruit. It’s warm, but not 13% warm. The cask aging has rounded off any rough edges. Malt bomb. Boozy, bittersweet finish. Big props to SoLan for acquiring this world class masterpiece and sharing it with the crew!

Many thanks to Steve for the bomber! Poured brilliant, clear copper with just a ring of beige.. loved the color, though. The aroma picked up deep, rich brandy paired with aged caramel, plums, and toffee.. deep and seductive with a warming sensation.. great use of the barrel here. The flavor was brandy-fueled (and a very fine one at that!) with vinous notes and vanilla playing well in there.. drawn caramel, aged toffee, and more vinous notes on the back.. very memorable finish. Heavier-bodied with just enough carbonation on the palate (definitely more that another bottle or two that I heard of).. alcohol was never rough, but this warmed the belly nicely. Great brew!

Sampled at the second annual Bistro’s West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Fest: Pours a transparent orange copper with a nicely-lacing light tan head. Aroma of sweet caramel and biscuity Belgian malt with some light oaky complexity. Body starts rich and caramely sweet with some complex honey and sticky brown sugar notes. Finishes drier and mildly warming with nice honey and caramel sweetness. Very enjoyable.

Huge thanks to Degarth for sharing this truly rare treat.

Pours hazy brown with thin off white head. It has a simply huge creamy – chewy – delicious – inviting aroma. Wow! I get sweet rich molasses, moderate wood notes, sweet dark fruitiness, some red wine and some understandable alcohol presence consider the massive ABV. I get a thick initial mouth feel ushering notes of dates, figs, prunes and sweet raisins that moves into wood and mild sweet booziness. It then becomes more and more whiskey infused as the taste progresses. It runs toward the finish with unbridled joy carrying tasty rich malt sweetness mixed with sweet dark dark fruitiness. Just plain old YUM!!
