Commercial Description:
Decadence Grand Cru is a blend of 8 month old Decadence 12 Belgian Style Quadruppel and our 3 year old Pomegranate Lambic. The resulting beer is an amazing treat for the sour lover. The Lambic was fermented with a combination of lab cultured Brettanomyces lambicus as well as naturally occurring Lactobacillus from the locally harvested Pomegranates. The bottles are then bottle conditioned 6 months before release.

Sampled at the second annual Bistro’s West Coast Barrel Aged Beer Fest: Purs a hazy orange amber with a thin-lacing wispy white head. Sweet and tart caramel and light fruity complex oaky nose has nice enticing character. Body starts fairly full with a nice mild caramel sweetness and great, tart light fruity balance toward a crisp, complex drier oaky finish. Very well-balanced and authentic.

Bottle courtesy of aspidites sampled on 9/15/07: Pours a transparent orange bronze with a nicely-lacing spotty white head. Aroma of sweet caramel and tart cherries with good oaky complexity. Body starts fairly full, caramely sweet, oaky, lightly fruity and complex toward a drier finish. Nicely balanced, authentic and very enjoyable. A great Flemish sour.

Stone Sourfest. Enjoyable and interesting. Honey on the finish. Malty and sweet up front. Nice for a 12% sour.

Sampled at the Stone Sour Fest. More sweet than sour, but I love a good sweet beer. Some cherry and berry flavors on the aromas. Some more on the flavor with touches of citrus too. Very nice.

On-tap at Stone Sour Fest. Pours cloudy brown orange with a moderate sized head, specks of lace. Smells sour and malty with some vinegar and alcohol. Tastes sweet and alcohol malty, some sweet fruity citrus notes. Full body, subdued carbonation.

Dirty sloppy brown color with a slight orange tint and nothing on top in the way of head. Very plump peach aroma with floating soil notes. Peach flesh flavors with hotness behind it...very chewy mouthfeel, quite meaty in fact. I’m having a really hard time finding y notes of a 3 yr old pomegranate lambic. It’s a nice chewy ale though. On another note, why would the Ratebeer spell checker not recognize the word "Lambic" or even "Ratebeer" for that matter?

Sampled at the Second Anual Stone Sour Festival on 7/20/2008. One of my favorites of the afternoon. Where can I get more?
