Bottle, thanks to stoutlover72. Brilliant firey copper in color with ample foam. Glorious hop nose. This is without question the best smelling double IPA I’ve sampled in several months. In the nose, it’s like a Dreadnaught clone. Super piney, raw, resiny, with hints of grapefruit and pineapple, spruce and forest. Total hop glory! Just tasted it, expecting the beer not to match the perfect nose, but it’s just the opposite! It’s totally raw, hops at their core, like the first batch of Hopsickle. Pure and full fledged from the front palate to the finish. Perfect sweet, somewhat sugary malt flavor which works perfect with the amazing hop bill. I’ve been so vocal lately about Dreadnaught being the best Double IPA in the world, but after tasting this, I think I am mistaken. This beer is unreal. The perfect Double IPA.

Aug 7, 2008 RBSG ’08. Sampled from a growler that AgentSteve was carrying around towards the end of the evening. Some carbonation with a small bit of white lacing. Deep amber color. Huge aroma of pine tree and hop resin with loads of caramel malt. Very malty base with sappy grapefruit spice in the flavor. Huge body on this one, you can really bite into it. Nearly endless bitter and spicy hops finish. Apparently it was a few months old; I’ll bet its epic when tasted fresh. Thanks to AgentSteve for pouring me a glass of this!

Aug 6, 2008 Thanks to aspidites for this - although someone else poured it. Hazy brown with a lacing tan head. Aroma is caramel and dense pinewood hoppy with a minor note of grapefruit. Flavour is dense hoppy and thick malty - sweet, solid brew. Very flavourful indeed. Grapefruity and solid bitter into the finish. Fantastic flavour.

Aug 4, 2008 Shared at the Grand Tasting, RBSG. Was it just me or does Uberhoppy have a serious malt backbone, don’t get me wrong it had some nice hoppy bitterness, but very sweet and creamy.

Aug 3, 2008 From a bottle shared at the Grand Tasting during RBSG 2008. Mild hops with a very nice malty creaminess to it. I was really bummed to find out this was the only bottle. It was a great treat to try it.

May 30, 2008 Brewmaster Steve tapped a keg at the brewery so I could try this, and was I impressed! I know it was about 4 months old, but it was outstanding. The pour was darker than any IIPA I had ever seen, like toasted wood with a thin cream colored head. The nose was very pine, floral and grass hoppy, but a sweet caramel maltiness was strongly present. The flavor was just as the nose. Extremely well balanced. Smooth on the palate and dangerously drinkable. I’m glad I finally got to try it, I just wish I didn’t have to drive home after!
