MilkmanDan (1938), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Jul 22, 2004 Dark, thin oily head. Nose a bit of roast and smoke. Flavor roasty and bitter, slight rasiny tang. Quite drinkable. hopdog (4648), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 17, 2004 On tap. Poured a dark black with an averaged sized tan head. Chocolate dominated the armoas but could also smell coffee. Same tastes as the smells with a nice bitter/hop balanced. Good beer - after the sampler, I ordered a pint of this one. DocLock (4170), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 12, 2004 This one impressed me. Poured blackish, with a big tan head and great lacing. Aroma of big coffee, malt, chocolate, cabernet, and some smoke. Tastes malty, with a big coffee/chocolate taste, and some smoky, roasty malt at the finish. Top notch. obxdude10 (1390), Reading, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 25, 2004 VFBC knows how to make some stouts, although the name is a bit misleading in a way, I was kind of expecting to get something like a Guinness or Murphy’s but this had more body & flavor, it was much heavier than the other two, black in color, generous tan head, great lacing around the glass, nose full of chocolate & coffee, full body, very smooth & very drinkable, flavors included dark roasted coffee & dark chocolate, nice hop profile to balance the beer really well, this one’s a keeper
