Clear golden appearance, medium head. Malty, lightly hoppy with herbal notes. Medium low complexity, not too sweet with well rounded bitterness. Good and refreshing premium lager.

Valmiermuiža; village with 1000 inhabitants, 110kms northeast of Riga, with brewery, tourist information and old sites at same spot, googleman tells. Valmiermuižas Gaišais Filtrets (Nepasterizete Alus); deep golden clear bubby body, pearl white dense head, dots inside the mug and a little curtain. Mild scents of sweet malts, hints of caramel, toffee fudge, sour toe, loaf of bread, meadow. Taste; wort, bread, caramel, toffee, butter, grains, herbs, grass, and notes of butterscotch passing by. Slicky on palate, normal body. Bread-buttery finish with some hops playing along. Very nice pal to cheese, salty sausages and evening sun. [50cl brown bottle abv5.2% BB24sp14, b@Bauska Latvija]

On tap at Valmiermuižas alus, Valmiermuiža. Clear golden with a rather small, white head. Mild malty aroma with hints of fruits, grassy hops and cereals. Medium sweet and grainy with a quite light bitterness. More like the standard European lager, and much more boring than the unfiltered one.

Klar gylden brun med hřyt offwhite skum som fort forsvinner helt. Malt, honning, frukt, karamell og mineralsk lukt. Sřt karamell og honning, lite bitterhet, men kjenner humlesmaken pĺ slutten. Medium kullsyre.

Nice and refreshing with that fine Latvian flavour of their beers. Nice and thick and golden in shape.

UPDATED: FEB 13, 2014 Bottle. Medium white head. Fruity aroma. Clear, amber color. Nice and subtle label design. Taste - slightly sweet. Pleasant aftertaste. Average carbonation. Enjoyable beer in most occasions. One of the best beers from Latvia.

Definitely a positive surprise, although it is from quite standard concept what comes to production method and hops. Despite this it has very nice and fresh test, best in Latvia. Would win many IPA tasting competitions . Balanced taste, sweetness and sourness go hand in hand. Well done.

Bottled. Amber color with white head. Malty and fruity aroma, some yeasty tones. Flavor is fruity, light sweet but after can feel hops.

500 ml bottle from the brewery shop/café in Riga. Golden colour, large, quickly dissipating white head, aromas of caramel, fruit, bread and grass, pleasantly full body for a lager, taste is somewhat sweet while the aftertaste bitter. By far one of the better lagers I’ve had.
