Tap @LatviaBeerFest. Deep amber color. Small white head, stays. Buttery, malty, slightly sweet aroma. Malty, faint yeast, fruity flavor. Quite nice. Tasmanian girls with me seems to like it even more than I do.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Small white head doesn’t last. Hazy amber body with carbonation. Earthy mealy nutty aroma with strawy fruity notes. Dryish dusty strawy taste with dried fruit and flour notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish earthy strawy aftertaste with resiny wooden notes. Interesting and unusual. Drinkable, but surprisingly bitter. (0.5l draft at Folkklubs Ala Pagrabs, Riga.)

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draught at the brewery shop, Riga. Hazy deep golden, small head. Bread nad butter, some grass. Mid sweet with medium body and well rounded mouthfeel. Honey, butter and spicy hops - all in good balance - lead to an increasingly bitter finish. Nice!

UPDATED: NOV 9, 2011 Keg (?, Riga) (5-:3:5:3:10=2.6)
Really not getting much aroma, just vague light grains, but served so cold. SImple in the mouth, crisp and refreshiing. Finish does have pleasant crisp and dry noble hops. However, not as good as either the uncertain heritage keg from Tallinn, or the bottled one from a year ago. A touch of sourness in the mashiness.

Little aroma, as it was a cold day, and served very cold. Rich gold, tight keggy head. Lovely full smooth malts. A touch husky. Gentle hops. Milky body. Excellent easily-drinkable lager. Uncertain if this really was the nefiltrets - it was definitely "live" and from keg, but it didn’t actually say nefiltrets.

On keg in Riga. Unfiltered version. One of my favourite Latvian lagers. Pours a golden colour with a fair white head. Aroma of bready yeast and caramel. Similar flavours with mild bitterness and a grassy hop finish. A little oily mouth-feel with mild carbonation and CO2 prickle.
