Bottled (thanks Tasogare!). Deep ruby red colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is sugary, mild toast and some mild saccharine sweetness. Flavour is quite similar and overly sweet.

Bottle from more crazy Baltic beer sourcing by the Indian. Bit of a surprise this one - didn’t look on here before trying and with my Latvian skills not up to a cool but exclusively Latvian label I wasn’t expecting a dunkel! A brownish beer with limited carbonation, nose is sweet, taste is fairly full and also sweetish with hints of treacle toffee. Nice - might be hard work for a session though.

500ml bottle provided by Elisabeth and Stefan for a rating session of beers from Latvia. Large tan-coloured foam on top of a clear, brown coloured body with a deep reddish shade. Fragile lacing to the glassware. Sweet dark malts to the nose. Flavoured by brittle caramel and herbal hops. Finish off with hints of dried fruits. Quite alright (Tromsř, 22.03.2012).

Bottle. Dark copper body, small tan head. Sweet aroma of toffee and fruit. Taste is sweet and caramelly with a strange cherry twang. Does not have much toast, it’s more like a fruit beer. Weird but quite appealing.

Pours copper with a beige head. Aroma is roasted caramel, butterscotch and nuts. Flavour follows the nose.

Ruby red, off-white head. Malty nose with caramel hints. Taste has more malt and roastiness with caramel and nuttiness in the background. Some bitterness in the finish. Oily mouthfeel. Pretty good.

Pours a clear and dark copper beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is malt and caramel. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness. Overall a boring beer.
