Pretty good--some caramel/toffee without overly cloying sweetness; light enough to be refreshing (but strong enough to make sessioning a bit harder!)

Frisch vom Hahn im Aussie-Pub in Riga. Dunkles, klares Amber im Glas. In der Nase und im Mund volle Röstmalzbombe. Wer es mag.....

Looks Slightly hazy brown. Sweet malty aroma and some hops on the nose. Taste brings dark caramel malts. Sweetness is under control and that’s good. Palate light to medium with high drinkability. Hops and malts in balance. Good.

Clear autumn maple red colour, with thick but weak caramel foam. Aroma is lightly sweet of caramel malt, rye beard and grains. Palate is full body, slick and creamy texture leaving weak rye bread finish. Taste is sweet of caramel and notes of dark rye bread, sunflower seeds, grains and light of raisins. Overall, very nice full bodied dark beer with notes of rye bread, do recommend.

Appearance- Ruby Amber clear with thick caramel foam, aromas- malt, papaya, apricot, pineapple treacle and sponge, palate- medium/full body, light on the tongue, thinner texture. Taste- sweeter biscuity malt, burnt treacle with a bitter/ acidic aftertaste. Overall- very enjoyable but slightly too bitter/ acidic at the end.

Bought in a bottle, drank from the Valmiermuiža’s glass. Reasonably sized very light brown head, dissipates very quickly. Aroma and taste with fruity and caramel notes. Quite bitter and hoppy just like the light one. Tastes a bit like burnt caramel, alcoholic.

On tap @ Aussie backpackers, Riga. Redbrown body with a medium head. Roasted malt, fudge, almond, butterscotch, some earthy notes. Usually I’m not a fan of diacetyl but in this case it was quite ok.
