Brewed since the beginning of last century, when the near-complete staff of the brewery went to see the circus of Buffalo Bill, leaving the boiling brewing kettle to the care of the youngest employee. This boy let the beer roast and caramelise on the bottom of the kettle, but after trying, everybody actually liked the "spoiled" beer, which became the brewery’s staple diet. This Belgian version is a lot weaker than the stout exported to the USA.

Bottle from de Bierschuur in Poppel. The beer is dark amber to dark brown colored and has a stable and large broken white head. The aroma is roasted malts and caramel, and some red and dried fruits. The taste is light bodied, little sweet wit roasted malts and caramel notes and some bitterness and dryness in the end with some chocolate notes. The finish is little sour and light bitter.

Reddish brown pour. Small off white head. Little lacing. Caramel and roasted notes in the nose, but not from grain. Taste is a slight roasty caramelly thing. Okay.

Drucken på flaska. Mörk nötbrun färg med smutsbrunt skum. Lite syrlig doft av hallonsaft och svarta vinbär. Ganska lätt kropp. Smak av söt, brun, rostad malt och lingonsylt.

On bottle from Drankenzentrale du Hopduvel, Gent. Dark brown color, good foam. Medium aroma intensity; roasted, malty, dried fruits, light hops and some toffee in the finish . Tap at the Delirium Cafe, Brussels. Poured a clear dark brown with a bubbly off white head. The aroma is rich sweet malt, light chocolate, light smoky notes. The flavour is moderate sweet with a slightly light, roasty, burnt treacle, yeast, ight hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Fairly drinkable but a little light and lacking flavours that I like!
