Need to try to find this beer again, because what I’d wrote down was crap.

F: pale brown, average, average lasting, diminishing to thin film. C: dark red ruby to dark. A: sweet, dark fruit, some yeast, blackberries. T: sweet, fruity, malty, yeasty, only some tones of stout, hint of coffee, chocolate, sweet dried fruits like dates, figs, too sweet and quite simple for IS, but beside the style quite good beer, 0,33l bottle from Delhaize in Brussels, medium body, average carbo, nice bitterness on the palate together with pleasant sweetness.

GSAP (675) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 20, 2015

750 ml bottle. Pours deep, almost opaque brown with rocky off-white head. Nose has caramelized malts, dank earthy yeast, some herbs. Flavor is quite sweet - nearly cloying - a wash of residual sugars, kind of a generic syrupy sweetness, a little cheap-coffee roastiness. Ample carbonation similar to a belgian strong. Cool to try a classic- this is ok, but very simplistic.

Talkpoederachtig in de mond met scherpe koolzuur. Smaak zacht en zoet, chocolade, vanille, melasse. Bijna RIS dit! Geur lekker. Nasmaak top! Backlog from 2015/05/02.

Bottle from the bierschuur in Poppel. The beer is very dark brown to black colored and has a stable cream colored head, with average carbonation. The aroma is sweetness of caramel, dark fruits and roasted malts, and some light hint of coffee and cacao. The taste is medium to full bodied, with medium sweetness and in the end a bitterness of dark chocolate, cacao and some espresso. The finish is light dry and light bitter, with warming alcohol. When tasting I would say this is a strong ale, but definitely not a stout.

Donkerbruin van kleur. Beetje zurig aroma, smaak is licht caramel en ook zurig, doet me helemaal niet aan een stout denken. Dunne waterige smaak.Als ik andere ratings lees snap ik dit niet helemaal.....

Clear dark liquid, with a red shining. Average head. Sweet aroma, with a strong scent of alcohol. Medium body, strong carbonation. Taste is sweet and bitter, and not at all like stout.

Maker: Van den Bossche, St. Lievens-Esse/Herzele, Belgium *** Beer: Buffalo Belgian Stout (bottled, bottle-conditioned, 330ml) *** Style: Imperial Stout *** ALC.VOL.: 9.0% *** Colour: Dark mahogany, minimally hazy. Big, frothy beige head. *** Nose: Blackberries, alcohol, vinegar. *** Texture: Medium body, oily. Modest carbonation. *** Taste: Licorice, sweet dark berries, some alcohol, yeast, spices at the start. Moderately sweet, but with sip after sip it gets drier. Middle is dry, with lemons, red berries, yeast, licorice still. Finish turns sweetish again, with the licorice over yeast and lemon. Mild, malty, wee alcoholic after taste. *** Impressions: Interesting, unusual take on an imperial stout. Not cloyingly sweet despite 9% ABV, rather an interesting mix of sweet and sour flavours, with a hint of vinegar throughout. Who but the Belgians could make such a beer?
