Light brown head atop a black body, light caramel nose, flavor is lightly malty, with yeast and some sugar, not very stout like. watery mouthfeel

Sweet aroma of plum and spice (coriander). Pours dark purple/brown with no head retention. Flavor is sweet plum and finishes with nice spice. Really unique, for a stout, but still very good. More like an Abbey Trippel than an english or american Stout. Worth a try, don’t be fooled by RB low rating.

750mL bottle, BB 6/27/08. After the cork shot into my vaulted ceiling and a few ounces found my carpet, this poured deep garnety brown with a short, but well-retained cap of beige head.. no further sign of the force that this opened with. The aroma picked up dark fruity sourness over lightly roasted chocolate and molasses notes.. some musty funk that I really dug in there. The flavor had dry, semi-sweet chocolate, molasses, and tobacco laced with sour fruity and yeasty notes.. the latter character almost made the finish refreshing.. odd, but tasty. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate with light grainy bitterness and the aforementioned fruity sourness.. cool style that I haven’t seen enough of.

Pours a dark brown with an impressive fluffy light brown head. The nose is disapointing and a little citrus-like blended with metal. The mouthfeel is light and too waterish for a stout. The taste is like melis, there is some toffeé, cacao and roasted malts... but all to little... where is the personality....?? A flat fading finish. Bummer

750 ml, bb 27-06-08. Translucent mahogany with a twelve-pour, gigantenormongus head that settles to a lasting quarter-inch and leaves sticky, creamy lace. Aroma is that of a Coca-Cola with some slight cherry and ash. Flavor is cherry-grape Kool-Aid with some caramel toffee. Light char, coffee, cocoa and wood on the finish. Medium-heavy body is sometimes smooth, sometimes fizzy and finishes dry with acidity and roast malt. Alcohol is well hidden. Very interesting stout that is more like a cross between a dubbel, a mocha and a fruit soda. Recommendation: let it breathe a few minutes and drink at least 8 oz. before you decide you don’t like it.

This is one of my favorite Belgians, I’ve had it many times and it never dissapoints. Although it’s marketed as a stout I think this is more of a dark Brune. Dark cadi sugar and burnt carmel with a solid amount of bitterness. Very good!
