Special wine-barrel aged Buffalo since 2012, on 75 cl. Not very stable, ecru-coloured, creamy head, colour a very dark bronze, almost blackish. Sweet, complex aroma of cider, port wine, coconut, oak, dates, banana, liquorice, caramel, dessert wine, chocolate milk, vanilla, pomegranate. Sweet taste of candi, liquorice, raisins and dates, lots of caramel, supple but rather thin mouthfeel, finishing with the sweetness from the onset (almost cloying), wood notes and warming alcohol but to my taste, not enough hops to balance the sweetness. Interesting because of its complexity but too sweet for me and not my taste at all.

Bourbon aroma and taste with a bit idea of cola on the taste. Thin foam, rich shape. Cool beer for a night dessert. Worth tasting.

Bottle sample at Grand Cru tasting at Beer & Beyond shop. Dark brown with a small head. Starts with very pleasant aroma of wood, wine, caramel, raisins, light roastiness. Taste is a bit disappointing, sweet, some malts, dried fruits, vanilla, nice, but a bit weak. Rather thin body.

Draught at DBF2014. Dark brown. Aroma heavy malty (roasted, chocolate) and barrel (wood, vanilla, redwine). Flavor medium sweet, bitter and spiced, very complex. Medium to full body.

Lovely tan creamy, lasting head. A black - deep brown coloured beer with ruby red reflexions. Noses of red grapes, red wine, vanilla, some caramel, malty and well balanced sherry notes. Rather complex with a soft, light texture, slender yet developping a full velvety body. Sweet, well balanced and harmonic lasting wine finish.

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2014 Sampled @ Kerstbierfestival Essen 2013. Special taste. A bit soury aroma. An interesting combination of a sour base with sweet brandy/bourbon and also a bit of chocolate. Interesting flavours, though not expressing enough. Edit: rated slightly higher after tasting a 2012 bottle during a tasting with my friends in de Ardennen 16-8-2014. The beer has a striking complexity and a nice smell.

Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, nr Gent, Belgie, June 2013 consumed at home in company of Loz, Lynn & Barry Friday 18th October 2013 The b/a definately shows on the nose. Black in colour with off-white head. Flavours are predominantly chocolate but with some dried fruit and a swirl of vanilla its pretty good A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
