Crosling (1854), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 1.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | Feb 4, 2009 Pinkish, grapefruit colored ale with a bubbly, quickly diminishing white foam. Awful aroma reminds me of a protein smoothie, with notes of strawberry and tangerine. Way too sweet, one dimensional. No real reason for this beer to exist. Hardly any alcohol. Expensive. A better alternative is a cocktail of some kind, or a vitamin water. Huyghe sucks. Cornfield (4926), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 1, 2009 There’s no "Van Diest" on the bottle that I picked up at the Binny’s in Orland Park, IL. It only mentions Huyghe. Not a bad drink, but it’s all about fruit and little else. It pours a hazy off-red body with a smallish head tinted with pink. The aroma is strawberries, maybe a little candied. The flavor is fresh strawberries, but the carbonation seems to cut the sweetness a tad. Okay, but I probably won’t be repeating this. Biere d couleur rouge-rosé avec un mince collet moyennement collant. Odeur de fraise très fort, framboises, confiture, sucre et un peu floral. Gout très très doux en bouche, fraise et sucre. | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jan 30, 2009 250mL bottle purchased from the LCBO, I’m not really sure why. Anyways, pours a decent looking hazy red with a small pink head. The aroma is over whelmingly sweet, like seriousy, seriously, dangerously sweet and fruity. Strawberries to the MAX. Some sour tartness seems to be screaming for attention, but I just really don’t seem to care. It actually smells suspiciously like strawberry jam. Flavour is actually okay. Not as cloyingly sweet as I was afraid it would be. For some reason the first sensory reaction to the stuff being in my mouth is in my nose which sort of tinkles (wtf?). Flavour is fruity strawberryness all the way through, but with some wheaty sour tartness in the finish that seems like it just really wants more than anything to add some balance, but just can’t quite do it. Like the little engine that could, but it can’t. Mouth-feel is indistinguishable from pop. As far as a drinkable substance goes it’s actually pretty good, I would just never guess this is actually supposed to be a legite beer. Pairs well with some KD mac n’ cheese, and I think its most redeeming qualtiy is the way it doesn’t make you want to vomit, which in my books is a solid asset. You could actually feed this to your children, in fact, I recommend it. grandgenie (252), gatineau, Quebec, Canada
Agaguk (119), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 6/20 | Jan 18, 2009 Got this randomly one day at Rozi’s- not expecting much, and surprise! it’s in the 17th percentile. Aroma is that of strawberry jam and a little bit acidic. Flavor is really sweet, just like juice. There is almost no malt, hops or anything other than fruit noticeable. Yeah, I guess there is some malt in there? maybe? Just too fruity.
