M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Aug 30, 2007 Bottle, RBESG Grand Tasting 07. Cloudy copper, thin white head. Nose that smells of that juicy bit at the top of Carte D’Or. Sweet and artificial. Sickly. Mouth is oversweet strawberry. Probably some beer there, didn’t care, it was crap. mansquito (819), Boston/Philadelphia, USA Aug 29, 2007 On tap at Porterhouse: Minimal head. Thick cloudy red color. Smells like a hell of lot of strawberries. Intense tart strawberry taste. Still a little bit of beer taste in there. Really thick for a fruit beer. I actually liked it. I think that even if this is a girly alco-pop, it is still a notable beer because of its thickness. It isn’t offensive to any sensibility and it is quite drinkable by any standard. Not as complex as a lambic I would suppose, but it still deserves better than this, as it is better than all those watery American fruit wheat beers. Joeh (1908), Buckinghamshire, England Aug 29, 2007 330ml bottle. Sweet and overpowered with strawberry juice. Nothing more than an alcopop. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Aug 5, 2007 Københavnske Øldage 07. The color is like strawberry juice, perhaps a bit more red. The aroma has a lot of strawberries, and the flavour is like eating liquid, sun ripe and warm strawberries right from the plant - ymmIII.... 13/29 woodruff (16), England Jul 31, 2007 Sampled on tap and found this to be a distinctly unusual effort. Very strong initial sweet gloopy taste, although underneath there lurks a half decent wheat beer. Trouble is it’s masked by an almost overpowering fruity-mulch - as if a shot of Soda Stream concentrate (for those who remember this) has been thrown in. Head was not very convincing and disappeared pretty quickly and although I came round a bit more to it halfway down, as the initial sweet shock wore off, there’s something distinctly synthetic about this beer.
This was the on tap version, however, and I imagine that the bottled beer is a different beast. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jul 29, 2007 Updated: Aug 16, 2009[414-20070709] 250mL. Strawberry wine shortcake aroma. Murky, dark red body with a medium-lasting bubbly white head. More fruit punch than beer, flavour is strongly strawberry (you can almost feel the seeds) and lightly plastic. Medium body. Refreshing summer brew. (8/3/8/3/14) 3.6
[2330B-20090724] Sample. Sweet super strawberry juice aroma. Hazy, light pink red body with a quick foamy light pink head. More strawberry juice in the flavour, very sweet. Medium body. Fruity and great for a summer patio, more like a cooler than a beer though. (6/3/7/3/10) 2.9
(@ LCBO-Bayview; Toronto, ON) SHIG (2012), Aviano, Italy Jul 28, 2007 Bottle: Poured a hazy red brown with a off white color head. Aroma is fruit mostly strawberry, but it also had a sugary candy like smell. Sweet berry flavor with a dry sugar lasting taste bud tingle. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Jul 19, 2007 Bottle. Hazy red color with a average fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy strawberry (a bit like strawberryjam), sweat, wheat. Flavor is moderate sweet to heavy (strawberry and sugar sweet) with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft.
