Good citrus nose, grapefruit, lemon zest, sorbet, a bit of solvent. Golden colored with a huge, fine head and tons of carbonation. More solventy taste, soap, grapefruit, grass, paint. A bit strange at first, then got better. Nice, bitter, tingly, peppery, spicy finish, but the first sip is a bit rough. Very highly carbonated and prickly. A strange bird. Interesting, but I think it still needs some sorting.

Bottle. Light golden, hazy, large and mostly lasting head. Moderate, malty - lightly wheaty and sweetish aroma, light caramel, some fruitiness - light honey, faint spiciness, some herbal - light citrus hoppyness. Body is medium to full, malty - some wheat and sweetish flavor, light caramel and light fruitiness, light herbal hoppyness, faint alcohol. Finish is average, malty - lightly wheaty and sweetish, light caramel, some herbal - grassy hoppyness, light alcohol. OK aroma - finish lacks the fruitiness/too much alcohol in the finish considering the body. Bit too much wheat - wheat flattens the flavor/bitterness.

brugmanneke (222) - GERMANY - APR 30, 2013
(75 cl bottle) golden, hazy with visible bits of sediment, big and foamy head, off-white. Aroma is yeasty, spicy and grassy hops, hay, flowers. Quite some bitterness in the taste, but also lightly sweet. More hops than usual, but otherwise very Belgian, like other blond(ish) ales stemming from there. Which is not a bad thing. Medium to full body. Lingering spicy hops in the finish.

750ml bottle. Filmy golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. "Green" hoppy aroma has notes of grass, apple, herbs. Taste is dry hoppy with the equivalent "green" and European touch. Fresh - yeah; hoppy - yeah; nevertheless nothing special.

75cl bottle shared with friends @ De Fiere Margriet, Leuven. Herbal and floral aroma, some honey, apple. Hazy blond, white foamy head that gives nice laces. Starts a bit bitter but the floral taste takes over. Very sweet in the end. Citrus and sweet finish.

750 ml bottle - pours golden with a thick white head. Aroma of dusty and earthy raw hops. Medium body with nice creamy mouthfeel but too much edgy bitterness. Not very friendly there. One-sided typical European hoppy flavour. Pity.

(bottle, 75cl) Slightly hazy, golden colour with a huge and loose foamy white head. Moderately sweet malty aroma with Belgian yeasty spice and a good dash of grassy and herbal hops. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Balanced malty, slightly sugary and hoppy taste with herbal and slightly grassy accents; bitter-sweet malty and quite lingering hoppy finish with a well-integrated alcoholic strength. 06.II.13
