COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If you’ve got the sun overhead and your feet in the sand while you wander the local tide lines, you’ve most likely reached that zen-like state Islanders call Beachcombing. Here’s to one of Vancouver Island’s favourite local pastimes! Beachcomber Summer Ale is an unfiltered ale styled after a German weissbier. Pouring a glowing, golden yellow, this ale combines mellow aromatic notes of citrus and tropical fruit. These flavours combine to create a thirst quenching, clean beer perfect for those warm summer days

Definitely the best beer I had at the brewery. Pours cloudy gold with some good head and lacing. Nice banana and even some bubblegum in aroma. Soft yeast and carbonation. Well done German hefeweizen, reminds me of Denisons weissbeer in Toronto. Finishes sweet and sour with good balance.

pours a light golden color with a bit of a wispy white head. And aroma of spent grains, bread, light citrus notes. A light citrus fruit taste with a bit of bitterness and pure grain malt flavors. A fairly decent blonde, but pretty boring.

2 - 4 oz samples tried at VCBW at the Salt Building in Vancouver, BC pours a light golden color with a small white head with virtually no lacing left behind. Aroma is cereal grains and mild citrus. Taste is a light citrus hop bitterness with a cereal grainy malty sweetness. Light in body and carbonation. A decent blonde ale that is worthy of sampling a few times.

Relatively clear pale yellow with almost no head. Aroma is banana, peach blossoms, wheat. Pretty well balanced on the palate with a slightly acidic and effervescent finish. Taste is banana, wheat, hint of kiwi fruit and citrus. Pretty decent but given how clear it is and the lack of any yeast taste I am surprised at the claim it is unfiltered.

Hazy blond color, with small creamy head. Mild but nice aroma of wheat and spices. Smooth mouthfeel, delicate wheat flavor, mild spices, light banana, light residual sweetness, traces of bread, and correct bitterness.
Overall a good wheat ale.

Resembles a Hefeweizen more than an American Wheat Beer... at least from what I know, because the banana flavours are so strong. Of course with something labelled a "summer ale" you’re usually not expecting much, but this is way better than the norm for things labelled such. It actually has flavour! That said, no head whatsover, hazy wheat coloured... if the brewmaster were taking the p*ss and told me it was an American wheat with banana added I’d believe him in all my gullibility. The only reason I haven’t rated this higher is because it lacks delicateness, which I think would have been fitting.

Hazy gold pour. Light yeast and banana and wheat in the aroma. Flavors are exactly that - banana and the wheat is quite noticeable. Nothing remarkable, but nice nonetheless.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2013 Tap. I’ll echo the first part of the last review: "Pours cloudy and golden with good carbonation. Head retains. Aroma is grassy and citrusy with a bit of banana. First sip has lots of carbonation and fizz." Light with a faint sweetness, more citrus, wheat and banana taste. Next to no aftertaste. A patio beer. Update: this year it tastes much more bland than I remember. Underwhelming.
