3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Old-aroma of sour apples, vanilla and bourbon, fairly thick for a cider, not usually my style, but pretty darn good

Pours a clear amber color with some small bubbles that rise to the top. A bright apple nose with a spiced background. A little perfumey. A crisp tart apple flavor upfront. The oak barrel flavor comes in about midway through. It immediately cuts down any over sweet flavor a typical cider would have at this point. Just ever so slightly chocolately. A dry sweet finish. A very nice cider. Towards the top for me especially considering the drinkable level. Most better end ciders are decent until halfway through then itís just too sweet and sugary. Makes me want a beer. This one doesnít do that. Good stuff.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12/19/14. 750mL bottle from the Moline Hy Vee. Clear golden pour, looks fine for a BA cider. Interesting aroma, the barrel pops through a surprisingly large amount, otherwise some tart apple characteristics. Barrel, wood, vanilla in the flavor as well, combines with tart apples and yeast which is nice but the vanilla and cidery aspects give me a sense of butter that is slightly off putting. Not bad, interesting.

(bottle - 750 ml) Clear orange with a thin white head. Mildly sweet apple aroma with a nice tart base and then a good strong sweetness from the barrel aging. Dry and tart apple flavor with a very strong hint of the barrel and the stout within it. Sweet with a good amount of vanilla.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours clear, bright gold with a small bubbly head. Aroma is apple cider with tons of oak and a hint of vanilla. Big oak-y barrel taste as well with some moderate sweet apple cider and honey. A touch of bourbon shows up in the finish. Mouthfeel is a little sticky and itís pretty smooth. Really liking these Vander Mill barrel aged ciders. I need to try some more.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft. Not really tasting hte sum of its parts. It smells lie cherry bubblegum or those packs with the zebras on it. Flavor is sweet with light furits, cherry, and not a huge tart apple bite. The barrel is more evident in the taste.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Draft at FoBAB í13. Pours a clear golden color with no head. The aroma and flavor have sweet honey, apples, wood, some mild bourbon notes. I keep trying to like ciders, but they all become too much of the same thing.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft to tulip at HopCat in Grand Rapids. Looks solid; a transparent copperish gold with very thin eggshell lacing and soft carbonation. Smells and tastes of oak and apples with a touch of honey. Solid on the palate with a somewhat tart mouthfeel. A nice take on the style.
