1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Oakes (10941) - Savusavu, FIJI ISLANDS - MAY 21, 2013
Pale gold. Grassy hop aroma, with a delicate spiciness. The hop doesn’t show up much on the palate (or even the nose unless it’s really fresh). It’s a fairly thin beer, light with vague hop and a little grainy sourness in the finish. Uneventful, serviceable lager.

UPDATED: MAY 24, 2012 Pale golden colour. Moderate carbonation. "Mid" range flavour - not too bland, not too hoppy. An "average" lager. (tasted when there in March 2012).

Absolutely loved this beer. Aroma is not the best but the taste is amazing. I drank this beer the whole time I was in Vanuatu and loved it

The thing that is missing from the Islands is a light, drinkable in hot weather beer. Something like a Thai or Singaporean beer. Very light, but not on taste. This thing tries to be too many things and ends up not being anything.
And for god’s sake, do not drink it from a glass or the plastic glass they give you in the hotels-tastes like a toilet!
But there’s something about drinking a local beer that gives it a redeemable quality!
Tusker will still have a special place in heart after my time in Port Vila.

Pours pale with some fizzines. Smells of skunk and watery. Tastes of skunk, apples, ajduncts and is just a mess. Terrible beer.

Bottled and draft. I have expirienced his beer 100’s of times in my 16 month tenure in vanuatu. over carbonated, with a dank scent and flat flavour. generally dreadful to consume. even in the tropical heat it fails to excite.

rbsxg05, bottled. pretty tedious - pale golden, fizzy, wet cardboard aroma, self-raising flour flavour

Not the best beer in the world but at least it is very drinkable. It looked a little pale and wishy washy but nonetheless had a surprisingly easy to drink taste about it. Very refreshing on a hot Vanuatu day. Only available in bottles as opposed to the equally drinkable Tusker Bitter which is also available on tap. This Tusker Lager is 5% alcohol but an OP version is also available at 7% which has quite an effect if drank too fast.

Unfortunately there was something ammonia-like in the aroma that gave me a headache - thankfully I’m not marooned in Vanuatu with this my only fluid. Terribly bland, with a bit of sweet malt. Strangely I got some syruppy toffee in the dregs, but this was not enough to salvage.
