9%vol. 33, 75 and 150cl Beer very amber in color, strong, nose fruity and delicate, soft and round with the palate; slightly hopped but correctly spiced (roasted chicory, coriander, and sweet orange peel, among other ingredients). Bottle fermented and complex. On the Port-y side fresh. Spiced distinctly with orange, corriander and chicory. Should cellar nicely.

Bottle, 1996 vintage. Pours a mostly clean brown/red with surprisingly good carbonation. Tart aroma with hints of fruit and spice. Mouthfeel is a bit flat with a tart, green apple finish. Orange peel comes through in the mid palate. Extremely dry and puckering finish. Cool to see how something develops of 15+ years.

January 29, 2014. 330mL bottle at beerbistro. Dark lovely beer. Touch of sourness. No lacing, but nice head that dissipated quickly. Touch of chocolate, stone fruits. Fantastic bottle label.

Ambrée foncée trouble, effervescence faible, pas de mousse. Malts très légèrement torréfiés, un rien fruitée, un rien épicée, trop aqueuse. Beaucoup d’ingrédients pour un résultat assez moyen...

75 cl bottle. Color is dark amber with a light brown head. Bottle have been infected, taste and nose quite sour. Taste is plums, malty with a sour finish. More like a oud bruin. Kind of nice beer.

Bought a 1996 bomber in Minneapolis, MN. Wine-corked and capped. Brought it to a bottle share event to see what remained within. To my surprise, it was sour. Not sure if it was a batch or aging issue. Aroma was barnyard/basement, much like a dry gueuze. A hit of spice, but it was far from distinct. Appearance was a translucent yellow/gold. No head retention for more than a few seconds. Taste was a dry gueuze. Mellow with little body, much like a 3-year lambic. Finish, however, was a bit astringent. A bit of carbonation did remain; and the flavor took a bit to fade. As a 9% blonde, I would give a poor rating. But as an old lambic, I would rate this as phenomenal...especially considering that it may be 9%abv. So many questions!

Brune voilée au col fin. Aromes fruité et vinaigré. Attaque marquée par le sucre et l’âpreté.
