Nice hazy brown/ruby color, short head. Bit funky sherry-type aroma has ripe fruit, almost like fermented ones, then sweet malt, caramel, nuts, lively and interesting aroma, lots nuances. taste is unfortunately not a match to aroma, feels bit too light almost watery in palate, carbonation is also mild adding to effect of bit dull feel I get, not that long finish either, elements from aroma are there but not very potent ones, mostly hoppiness. Maybe my flue did some trouble here. Interesting one anyway and I really liked the aroma and color.

750ml bottle pours hazy light brown red with finger of off-white head. Nose is slightly tart earthy fruit. Taste is fruity fig, pear, applesauce. Finish is slightly funky, mild tart, fig, fruit, little bits of smokiness, bittersweet. Definitely unique.

Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel), with notes of cork / moldy wood, gum, pear syrup, date, fig. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately to heavily acidic, moderately bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly astringent. Well, I have to admit there’s certainly a distinctive fig smell under the covers (even though I rarely eat fresh figs and don’t really care much for them, the smell is pretty unique and memorable)...but overall the aroma is very musty and novelty beer-ish. Very sour in the mouth, and not much sweetness is left either...combined with the finishing bitterness, it’s not terribly enjoyable to drink. Sourheads might like this a bit more than I do, but honestly it just kinda seems messy and aimless. Never have been a fan of this brewery, and this doesn’t change my opinion.
