3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
In short: An easy to drink but generic amber beer. Ok
How: Directly from the conditioning tank during our brewery visit. Also tap at Tap at Gyvas, Kaunas, Lithuania. This rating for the glass directly at the brewery because more detailed but I preferred the tap at Kaunas
The look: Cloudy amber body topped by a large beige head with good retention
In long: Nose has herbaceous hops and citrusy hops over toasted cereals. Taste is basic caramelized cereals accompanied by citrusy notes and mild grassy hops bitterness. My North-American palate appreciates the fact that Vasaknų appears to be more generous with their hopping than most Lithuanian breweries, however their beers lack character and feel very generic. As with their Šviesus, this Tamsus is the type of basic beer similar to countless beers brewed in many countries. Sessionnable beer but nothing memorable here. The beer wasn’t great but that’s ok, what really pisses me off is when I write a good beer rating and I ruin it at the very end with a stupid tipo.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Medium creamy beige head. Hazy dark reddish brown body. Earthy fruity herbal aroma with mealy syrupy notes. Sweet, and faintly dry, fruity earthy floral taste with herbal licorice notes. Mid-bodied. Fluffy, soft, flat, smooth mouthfeel. Sweetish herbal licorice and raisins aftertaste with lingering caramelly fruity notes. Lovely. Incredibly easy to drink. (0.3l cask at Leiciai Alyne, Vilnius.)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap. It’s not new beer, but try just today. And was really surprised. Maybe it looks like most of good dunkel beers from other countries, but at the moment Vasaknu Dvaro Tamsus one of the most interesting Lithuanian dark beer. So if anybody will think that my rating is to big for this beer - i rate this beer comparing with other Lithuanian beers, not with world..

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Rating #4240)

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
My Bottom Line:
Herbal hops get smothered by light toast and caramel in this decent Lithuanian Tamsus.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam tops the hazy amber glow.
-The extremely long lagering of their beers seems to strip them of some fresh ingredient aromas and flavors.
-This is basically their Sviesus with a touch of light caramel malts.
-Drinkability is quite high.
-There are much more memorable products being brewed in the same area...
From the conditioning tank at the brewery.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tap (Alynas, Vilnius)
6 Rich, almost meaty, aroma. A touch of yeast.
4 Clear cherry wood, small brief head.
6+ RIch barley, some sweetness, very grainy - so close to its ingredients.
4 Smooth palate, decent carbonation. Full and a little sweet. Finish has decent graininess, and also some decent noble hops.
13 Very solid dunkel. The rich grainy roast is most welcome.
