3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask pour, black pour and creamy off white to beige head with sticky striped lacing ... aroma of fresh roasted coffee, vanilla and dark chocolate .... tastes of fresh roasted coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, light vanilla and just a hint of sweet syrup and a light bitter bite .... body is thin, but a little oily and slick .... finish is dry and lightly bitter .... decent stout

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From bottle # to tulip glass. Aroma is primarily coffee with a bit of earthiness. Appearance is black with a small tan head that disappears quickly leaving little lacing. Light to medium sweetness. Maybe a touch of maple syrup. Medium bodied. Lightly bitter. Nice light dry chocolate finish. Texture is a bit oily. Average to soft carbonation.
Overall great beer. Nice complexity. Its not founders but still a great version of the style.

Sample from bottle #073/480 at Kurtkeller 020: Stout-tastic 01 on 02/22/2015. The beer is a dark brownish-black color with a medium foamy tan head that recedes steadily to a film. Patchy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and vanilla. Light to medium body with a roasty coffee and malt character, with sweet vanilla in the background. The finish is chocolate malt and coffee. Pretty good overall.

Dark black-brown body, light tan head, soapy lacing. Strong roasted coffee up front, bittersweet chocolate, oatmeal base. A bit coffee focused for my preferences. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, earthy finish.
