Sample at Kurtkeller 017: Pumpkin-tastic 02 on 10/13/2014. Hazy pale amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, nutmeg and slight fruit. Light-bodied with flavors of sweet spices, earthy sweet potatoes and a touch of tangy fruit. The finish is sweet with a cinnamon and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nitro at Vault. Some interesting things going on with this one. Very creamy, due to nitro pour, some caramel yeast, sugar and sweet potato flavors. Body was a tad thin, but overall it was a good experience.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Nitro. Hazy light amber body, large creamy white head, soapy lacing. Nose shows bready sweetness, caramel, and a bit of earthy sweet potato. Flavor is similar with a general muddled bread/potato sweetness dominating. Medium bodied, creamy carbonation, moderately lingering finish. Its tough to make a potato beer drinkable beyond the first few sips. This one is decent, but it still isn’t something I’d want again.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured into a tulip pint. Nitro-tap.
Hazy amber with 1 finger of creamy head. Low carbonation.
Caramel, bread, brown sugar, nutmeg and cinnamon.
Bread, caramel and brown sugar. The sweet potatoes take on a flavor similar to pumpkin but is, obviously, sweeter. Light spices of cinnamon and nutmeg round out the finish.
Light-medium bodied, uber-creamy and incredibly smooth. The
nitro pour does this justice.
Whatever category you want to throw this in, it’s a damn good Autumn beer (Or anytime for that matter). Incredibly balanced, easy drinking and delicious! I will be back for more, Vault.
