Vedett, a blond, light, well hopped premium beer with 5.2% alcohol content, is the cult Duvel Moortgat beer today: following its birth in 1945, it quickly acquired fame and recognition within an intimate circle of insiders in the Antwerp-Brussels region. But do not think for a moment that this oldtimer is thinking about retirement, quite the contrary. For the past years, Vedett has been going through a second childhood in a number of trendy cafés located mainly in big cities. The secret of its charm? A retro-look, a capricious taste, Vedett-allure and the "golden touch" of the brewery. These past years, the brewery armed Vedett with an innovative, hip, young and slightly absurd image. A successful strategy, especially with the youth: Right now, you'll find Vedett in Belgian Delhaize supermarkets and most Flemish cities as well as in Brussels. And the follow-up to the story? You can read it at www.vedett.com.

En weer een toppertje van Vedett. Het biertje drinkt erg makkelijk weg, heerlijk in de zomer.

Crisp and refreshing, hops come through and the head holds well in the glass. Good aroma and mouth feel very slight bitter finish which I find pleasing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma: grain malts, light bread, light caramel. Appearance: clear gold, medium, frothy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: grain malts again, some hay, straw. Overall: probably a touch above your average Lager, yet remains boring. Pint at The Blues Kitchen, Shoreditch.

Pours pale very light yellow with a big and foamy head. Mild malty aroma with a hint of hay. Taste has notes of malt, bread and some dryish hops. Simple but drinkable brew. (330ml can, bb03.09.2016)

33 cl bottle@Novotel Brussels Airport in Vedett footed glass@approx 7 degrees C. Pours clear yellow with large white head with good retention. Subdued aroma of malt with just at touch of citrussy hops. Flavour is again malt dominated with the yeast used (I suppose) taking it in direction of a light German lager with some bready sweetness and a little bitterness in the aftertaste. Body is light and watery, carbonation medium. Disappointing brew and not on par with anything else from the brewery nor actually with even more macro Belgian lagers, as it lacks any kind of defining carachteristic.

Why is this beer suddenly popular? I see this everywhere but it’s nothing special. Backlog from 2014/06/08.
