Commercial Description:
Vedett, a blond, light, well hopped premium beer with 5.2% alcohol content, is the cult Duvel Moortgat beer today: following its birth in 1945, it quickly acquired fame and recognition within an intimate circle of insiders in the Antwerp-Brussels region. But do not think for a moment that this oldtimer is thinking about retirement, quite the contrary. For the past years, Vedett has been going through a second childhood in a number of trendy cafés located mainly in big cities. The secret of its charm? A retro-look, a capricious taste, Vedett-allure and the "golden touch" of the brewery. These past years, the brewery armed Vedett with an innovative, hip, young and slightly absurd image. A successful strategy, especially with the youth: Right now, you'll find Vedett in Belgian Delhaize supermarkets and most Flemish cities as well as in Brussels. And the follow-up to the story? You can read it at www.vedett.com.

Bottle. A very bland lager, which only sticks out because of the high carbonation. Some cardboard in the flavour as well. Not too good. Expected more from Moortgat.

Bottled at Place Vert, York. Pour is lager-like with a huge foamy white head. Aroma is bitter, hops. Taste is lager-like with a not very pleasant metallic finish and not much balance to the taste. A little thin too.

Bottle 0.33 l at One Pint Helsinki. Clear golden with a big lacy head. Flowery, grassy hoppy and malty nose with just a hint of wet dog in there. Flavor is nicely malty, flowery hoppy, sweetish with a bit citric acidity. One of the more interesting pale lagers I’ve recently had.

Not an exciting beer, but tasty enough when thirsty, sessionable, and a decent palate-cleanser with Thai or seafood. Suspiciously identical in appearance to Moortgat’s Bel Pils. Pale gold, white head is lacy and fluffy. Nose is faintly sourish and grainy. Taste is lightly malty, grassy, rolling into a half-serious bitterness. Lively carbonation with drying mouthfeel. Better than I expected. The marketing is a bit embarrassing, but who cares?

Bottle at De Kleine Post. Light yellow with a white head. Aroma light malty (caramel) and hoppy. Flavor light/moderate sweet and bitter/acidic. Light body, watery.

Pale golden color, nice white head. Aroma of malt, yeast. The flavour is sweet, yeastly and malty too. Drinkable, but avarage. I’ve drunk it at Brasserie Achouffe...
