Mørk brun tåkete med lavt minimalt beige skum. Lukter trevirke, mørke frukter og noe sitrusskall. Svært bitter, lite sødme, noe mørk frukt. Bitterheten sitter lenge. Savner mer fruktighet.

Foffern (1494) - Bodø, NORWAY - SEP 29, 2015
Bottle at home. Pours a deep hazy brown color with a khaki head. Pine in the aroma along with harpix, leather, grapefruit, leafs, bread, some roasted malt and caramel. Lots of grassy hops, harpix and wood in the flavor but still some bread and roasted malt in the background. Full-bodied, soft and slick mouth feel, and has a heavy bitterness. A very aromatic and tasteful IIPA, and quite bitter. Not my favorite hop mix but a solid brew.

Mørk karamellbrunt med off-white skum. fruktig duft av ananas, grapefrukt og karamell. Bitterheten overdøver det meste, på grensa til beskt. Kan nesten gi assosiasjoner til gin, Fyldig munnfølelse.

Bottle, batch #52. Aroma is dominated by hops, floral, grassy, citrus, grapefruit, citrus peel. Brown, cloudy, minimal off-white head. Taste also dominated by hops, light malty backbone, light sweetness, strong bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation, bitter. A proper IPA, made for hopheads.

It smells of a dry milktank. Color is unclear coppertone with a white head. Taste dominsted as supposed by hops. Cutrus, grapefruit, herbs and caramell. Aftertaste of pink grapefruit and goosberries. A refreshing and longlasting aftertaste thst’s not as bitter as supposed.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet’s BU. Batch 041, BBF 04 2016. Pours quite unclear, copper to brown colour. A couple of centimeters of thick, foamy white head. Strong nose. Pine, resin, floral, orange, citrus, grapefruit, malt. Some alcohol and mint. Hint of hay and bread. Quite complex nose. Very soft carbonation. A bit gritty mouth feel. Very thick and sticky body. Strong pine flavour, with lots of grapefruit as well. Citrus, malt, mint, grain. Very, very bitter. A lot more bitterness than in Nøgne Ø’s version of this beer, 2 Captains. I also feel like this one’s got more flavours than 2 Captains, and it definitly feels more complex. 2 Captains seems more balanced though. Both are very good beers!

Amber with off white head - Good hop aroma with fruity notes and hints of pine - Good malt to support the hops that has pine and some herbal notes - The hops goes inot a long dry hoppy and herbal finish - This was good

Finally, the original! Slightly hazy medium amber body with a small, frothy, beige, short-lived head. Hoppy and strong aroma of tropical fruits, lots and lots of peach and plenty of caramel to back up the hops. Strong flavour of tropical fruits, grapefruit, caramel and... eh... gooseberries? I haven’t tasted gooseberries in 30 years, but my brain insists that it detects gooseberries in here, and who am I to argue? The taste is moderate sweet and the long finish is heavy bitter, almost a bit harsh. Mid-bodied, dry and with a soft carbonation. A good one, but I prefer the clone.

tmrmwel (1432) - Bergen, NORWAY - APR 4, 2015
Bottle, batch 33. Pours amber, with a finger thick rocky head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy, with tropical notes of apricots, pineapples, mango and lychee, as well as spicy notes of spuce and forest, and some roasted malts with bread and toffee. Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is bitter as hell (pun intended) hops, with resin, pine and grapefruit, notes of apricots and spicy tropical fruits. Lingering bitter finish.
