Originalen til Two Captains fra Nøgne Ø

Finally, the original! Slightly hazy medium amber body with a small, frothy, beige, short-lived head. Hoppy and strong aroma of tropical fruits, lots and lots of peach and plenty of caramel to back up the hops. Strong flavour of tropical fruits, grapefruit, caramel and... eh... gooseberries? I haven’t tasted gooseberries in 30 years, but my brain insists that it detects gooseberries in here, and who am I to argue? The taste is moderate sweet and the long finish is heavy bitter, almost a bit harsh. Mid-bodied, dry and with a soft carbonation. A good one, but I prefer the clone.

Bottle, batch 33. Pours amber, with a finger thick rocky head. Aroma is sweet and hoppy, with tropical notes of apricots, pineapples, mango and lychee, as well as spicy notes of spuce and forest, and some roasted malts with bread and toffee. Medium body, with soft carbonation. Flavour is bitter as hell (pun intended) hops, with resin, pine and grapefruit, notes of apricots and spicy tropical fruits. Lingering bitter finish.

ClubGonzo (4498) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 31, 2015
Bottle. Pours a hazy dark orange-hued amber body with a tiny, bubbly head with a rather short lifespan. Aroma is pine, spruce, grass, red fruits, rubber bands, caramel and hints of wet leaves. Taste is wet grass, earthy leaves, caramel, bitter herbs, spruce, pine and hints of syrup and some faint rubbery notes. Medium to full body, soft carbonation. Apart from being fairly under-carbed (which really doesn’t suit it), this beer seems a bit flat also in its grassy hop composition and doesn’t really ring my bell at all. The recipe might be the original, but this brew is no match at all for the outstanding Two Captains from Nøgne Ø.

On tap @ Cardinal. Pours amber with off-white head. Aroma of fir needles, caramel, citrus, "cat piss" - all in... Some sweet taste, followed by a long lasting bitter aftertaste.

Fra fat på Cardinaltreff feb-15: her er det humler i langge baner - aroma og smak av gress, grapefrukt, sure appelsiner og furunål. Usjarmerende og ubalansert.

From tap at Mi2 at Cardinal 23.02.15. Hazy orange. Bitter orange, grapefruit and pine. Bitter taste. Something unfresh in aroma and taste. Particularly in aroma. A bit too earthy.

On tap at Café Sara, Oslo. Clear amber with a lasting off-white head with good retention. Very hoppy aroma dominated by pine, some citrus and herbal notes too and caramel and malt. Medium sweet with rich, hoppy flavours and a quite intense bitterness. Tasty stuff. Long, bitter aftertaste with piney notes.

One of the best double IPA I’ve ever drunk. Great, piney and resinous aroma with some delicate malts (caramel especially). Awesome, unique taste of hops and malts - great balance. Bitterness (203 IBU) is quite big, but still very drinkable and refreshing. Great one!

Bardzo ciekawe piwo, aromat mocno owocowy choc w smaku juz niekoniecznie. Smak mocno chmielowy, oblepiajacy z ciekawym posmakiem ktory na dlugo zalega w ustach.
