COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

On tap at Risras. As Mad Viking Night Raid. It pours a black body under a small, beige head. The aroma is on the roasted side, with some faint burnt notes. Molasses and licorice chime in. It’s sweet on the palate, full-bodied, with coffee, some malty bitterness, roasted malts and treacle. Lasting roasted finish with treacle and sweetness. Not a superb one, a tad sweet perhaps, but it’s a fine brew indeed. 140804

On tap at Barrels & Bottles, vintage 2012. Almost black appearance with a dissipating head and minimal lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, tart cherries, dark malts, caramel, oak and light vanilla. Similar flavor, dark, malty, fruity, tart and vinous. Complex and pretty interesting. A nice sipper. (note: I may have had the cognac barrel version)

Very deep brown, clear, beige head. Aroma: bready malt, biscuit, cocoa, baker’s chocolate, a little leather. Flavor: chocolate, light roast, raisins, toffee, cocoa, more biscuity and slightly earthy notes. Great, complext malt character.

Cognac Barrel variety, big sweet malted body with vanilla notes, alchy and cognac dominate the profile, and finishes with a coffee.
