On tap at PIB, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of chocolate, some roasted malt and caramel. Flavour is very rich, with loads of chocolate, medium roasted malt, and a touch of caramel. Very rich and sludgy, with an uncompromising body. Thick, viscous and bold. Good stuff in small samples.
Earlier Rating: 7/26/2012 Total Score: 3.5
Sampled on tap at PIB, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, metallic notes and some chocolate. Flavour of roasted malt, chocolate and the metallic notes again. Full-bodied, but not too refined - some jagged edges. Good, but could use some work.

Mad Viking Night Raid. A very good stout. However, the plus here is its *perfectly* aged, which seems to be harder than it appears. The cognac notes are always there, come through more forcefully at times, and give the beer its character. Recommended! A-
