Aroma: medium plus intense. Aromatic nutty with chocolate hints. Ending with dark rye bread.
Apperance: poured as hazy light brown with medium dark beige cap. Average lifespan.
Taste/Palate etc. medium bodied. Mellow, even bit oily. Chocolate with bitter walls. Taste similar to aroma. Chocolate with darker malt, hint of toffee with slight side bitterness. Finishing with crust of dark rye bread.

Bottle, forget where from. Wasn’t expecting this to be a dunkel! Deep brown colour. Lovely malty aroma, millionaire shortbread, toffee, Soreen malt loaf. Smooth fresh taste, nicely balancing spicy hop keeps it drinkable. Actually exceeded expectations by some distance, I could drink this by the gallon.

UPDATED: OCT 28, 2013 My first landbier, and it most certainly won’t be my last. Much like a stout, but far less filling. Rich flavor of coffee and caramel. Goes down very smooth and quenches your thirst.

Pours a clear, deep amber brown with a buoyant beige head of foam that leaves a thick lace. Nose involves raisin and prune, sourdough bread, light citrus, fig and plum, a suggestion of light hop spice and some cocoa. Quite sweet and fairly bitter. Medium to full bodied, softer, silky, with a lengthy lager yeast finish. A malt forward brew, somewhat reminiscent of cinnamon raisin bread. Pretty impressive and enjoyable.

Bottle shared, poured medium to dark brown with red tints in the light. Light mocha color head. The aroma is sweet malts with caramel . Totally delicious. For the non hop lovers this has a great malty flavor followed by the caramel sensation. Very low carbonation. Great example of style.

Bottle. Murky prune-brown body, thin beige head. Nose of toffee, prune, and raisin toast. Body of layered breads and toast, raisin, and prune, also some fig or tobacco leaf and light rubbery phenolic notes. Light and yeasty.

Clear amber with a medium foamy light-beige head. Nose smells a bit like earthy toffee and a hint of raw maple. Flavor is like the nose, kinda earthy sweet with notes of toffee and maple spread accross a toasted english muffin. Perhaps a little note of Cracker Barrel applebutter as well. Tasty!

Mahogony to copper body, glowing and with a stable light bubbly big head. Very good looking. Moderate aroma, as the style describes, with roasted malts, young cheesey yeast, freshly toasted brown bread and a hint of herbal hops. Excellent mouth feel, foaming rich in your mouth yet very drinkable. Never sugary or too full, yet with a rich taste (especially for the style). Pleasnat bitterness. Much, much better than expected and one of the best Landbier/Zickels that I have had for sure. Drinkable yet flavourful. Also peaired excellently with my cheese lunch. (50 cl bottle from Wasana’s Getränken Oase)

Bottle, Beers of Europe. Red berries and sweet malt aroma, with a hint of yeast. Bread and cereal palate, which is well flavoured, leading to a long sweet finish. This is even better than I hoped it would be, really impressed, one of the best non-weisse German beers I’ve had for a while.
