50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden deep amber to orange with a thick off-white head. Aroma is dry breadish, slight roasted. Roasted, dry breadish and with a mild bitterness counterbalancing this. Lingering breadish and vague smoked/sulphorish note into the far finish.

UPDATED: MAY 11, 2005 A clear red beer with a fine head. The aroma is sweet roasted bread - quite an inviting aroma. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of roasted bread and hints of smoke. The mouthfeel is very soft. Quite a good beer.

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours a clear, dark, nutty brown with an off-white head. Sweetish, roasted malt aroma. Medium body with lovely roasted malts and a discreet, smoked edge. Subdued bitterness. Quality stuff - lovely indeed. 301206

Bottled (from beerangel.de). Reddish amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Some lace. Aroma is sweet caramel mixed with wood, sap and mild notes of leather. Flavour is quite strong leather along with some caramel malts and mild spices. Bittery finish. A very nicely balanced brew. Actually not very exciting tastes or aromas, but still one of the most pleasant German beers I’ve had in a long time. This probably is one of those that just suits me good as hell.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2007 On tap at Berliner Bierfestival. It was served with a clear, copper body, topped by a creamy, beige head. That was probably the best part of the beer. It wasn’t bad, far from, but maybe a bit boring, especially on the nose. The aroma was both a bit weak, and a bit one-dimentional, with caramel and hops, and not much more showing up. It had malt and caramel in the mouth as well, but there was a nice fruity touch to accomplish the medium mouthfeel. It finished malty. Although it is a bit anonymous, it’s a quite nice beer. Rating: 4-4-5-3-10-2.6. (070803)

Had the beer from bottle the day after, and that was a far better experience. The pour was the same, a clear, copper body and a nice, beige head. The aroma and flavor was far better though, with caramel, well roasted bread, yeast-notes and a little fruityness. The flavor had caramel, dark bread, sweetness and a bitterness. It finished with caramel, bread-crusts and some bitterness. Medium body with maybe a bit too much carbonation, but not in a bad way. A lovely, dark landbier. (070804)

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines and drunk at home. Clear dark brown cola coloured lasting thin beige head. Brown malty aroma. OK malty lager. It’s fine. Clean, tasty, some spicy hop. Fine.
