Ein uriges Dunkel mit Brautradition, das auch vielen Gästen der Region ans Herz gewachsen ist. Vollmundig, würzig, extraktreich - ein Landbier im besten Sinn!

bottle @ Keg Liquor / Clarksville IN --- Aroma of caramel and malt. Opaque brown / black color, ivory head that slowly sinks to a full cover, bands of lace. Taste is malt that pushes quickly past light carbonation to caramel that grows through a medium finish. Slightly chalky at the end. Watery at the onset, chalky at the end....good, not at all great.

Pours a filtered amber-hazelnut brown color with a big khaki head. Smells of toffee and glazed caramel among a gentle bread quality, which got a refreshing red berry coffee tartness to it. Drinks pretty soft with a medium carbonation to it and a rustic malty body, which stays refeshing. Tastes of toasty malts, coated by toffee, while getting accompanied by toffee supportive earth. Finishes with a soft dryness, adding a pleasant depth to the prevailing, smoky turning malts. Nice brew, relying on the malts with a well composed diversity, making this very drinkable.

Pours clear light brown, big dark tan head. Nose of caramel, toffee, bread, toast, diacethyl, a little DMS. Tastes sweetish with a little bitterness emerging after a moment. Medium body and carbonation, some stickiness. Not bad but unimpressive.

Garrafa de 50 cl . Espuma tímida que desaparece num instante. De cor castanha/âmbar.O aroma parecia uma Rauchbier mas que logo desenvolve para álcool, especiarias e malte. Sabor a caramelo e malte.Corpo ligeiro.

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2016 0,5 l Bügelflasche. Aroma: Toffee, dunkle Schokolade. Erscheinung: rotbraunes Bier, cremefarbener Schaum.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass darker than exspected, nice head. Starts fine malty, roasty, mild sweetness. Hints of chocolate, some berries. Spicy-malty finish. Really nice!

Swing-top bottle 50cl. Clear amber brown, large frothy beige head, mostly diminishing, good lacing; aroma is malty, caramel, dough, raisin, nutty notes, some basement; taste is medium sweet and bitter, malty, fruity, some sulphur; medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste is mild sweetbitter, light roast, sulphur notes and a bit acidness in the finish; all in all a bit thin and slightly infected.

Pictured bottle from Keg Liquors; split six ways. Aroma: Semi-sweet chocolate no-bake cookies, but lighter overall; not much in the way of hops. Appearance: Chestnut brown, flat body with a ring of bubbly tan head. Flavor: Very light and nearly watery; has that no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookie thing going on; fruity esters and hop presence are negligible. Palate: Light body, slick texture, flat carbonation, lingering finish. Overall: Exceedingly dull. Almost like a watered down German Guinness.

500 mL swing top bottle shared by ebone1988. The pour is a dark brown, hints of ruby shining through, with a thicker off white head and a good amount of lace. It does pour like a light cola. The aroma is heavy on sweet potatoes. There is a little brown sugar and molasses that is hidden. The dominating factor here is the sweet potatoes which is really different. The flavor is almost non-existent. It's very, very light. I'm pretty much just getting a little malty water. There is no distinct flavors. The mouth feel is thin and light with a decent carbonation level and the only thing of an aftertaste I can formulate is a barely-detectable sweet potato, long after the beer is gone. Smelled like there was much better potential. Disappointing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
