2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from some gas station in Fränkischen Schweiz I guess, shared with heavy and ogivlado, like most others today. Poured a shiny yellow body, small white head, good head retention. Vegetabley sweetish nose, light rice. Ugh. The taste, however manages to be completely different and actually bitter. Bitterish and hoppy, nice, slightly piney, going into the aftertaste. That’s all there is, one dimensional and simple but quite pleasant, better than most bottled pilseners that we had during the trip to Berlin.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 ml swing cap bottle. Poured a hazy gold body with a fuller dense off white tight foamy head that leaves gobs of lace up and down my DFH goblet. Aroma sadly isn’t that great, notes of wet bran flakes, old raisins, dough, bad grapes, walnut and date oatmeal. Medium bodied with very soft to almost nonexistant carbonation, sweet aftertaste. Flavor is on the sweet malty side with notes of dates, bad raisins, old dough, stamp glue, figs. Meh.....not something I would buy again, and I paid to see Star Wars The Phantom Menace twice.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear golden with a small rocky white head that leaves good sticky lacing. Nose is lightly grassy with yeasty cracker malts. Flavor is smooth and crisp, light crisp blonde and pilsner malts with a lightly doughy middle and finish, with a light peppery grassy hop tone throughout.

2.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: DEC 12, 2009 I felt like I needed to re-rate this given that my most recent experience with this beer was not all that good. Similar ceramic swing-top bottle as my initial rating. Pours a pale clear gold with a thin white head. There is a noticeable smell of sulphur in the aroma that is off-putting. It is not a heavy smell, but is most definitely there and gets in the way. The flavor is malt with some grassy hops, but the sulphur vapors continue to waft into the nose despite my efforts to ignore it. Mild bitterness at the finish.
500 ml ceramic flip-top bottle. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a dense white head that lasted through about half the glass. Pleasant aroma of malt, grass and hops. Flavor was again malt, grass and hops. Light bitterness at the finish. Solid beer. 7-3-7-3-14=3.4

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(bottle - 500 ml fliptop) Clear yellow pour with no head and very light carbonation. Very light aroma. Almost nonexistent. Light sweet and grass notes, but that’s about it. Dry sweetness at the start of the flavor. Light and crisp with a mild hop bitterness at the middle leading toward the aftertaste. Smooth and very refreshing.

500ml bottle in a lager glass. Pours golden with a fluffy, off-white head. Aroma of pale malts and light floral hops. Flavor pretty standard for the style. Average texture. Not bad.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
American Beer Distro ($4): Pours a pale gold with a head that is as good as a German pilsener typically has. Aroma of grassy German hops. Taste is somewhat bitter, but only as much as the style gets and even less so. There is a veritable malt backbone, as thin as it might be. Very German, refreshing and nice. Oh how I love pilseners.
