3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
(Bottle 50 cl) Pours an orangey golden with a slight haze and a neat, creamy white head. Very distinct aroma of bananas and some yeast. Soft and pleasant mouthfeel with a low carbonation. Sweetish, fuity with typical banana esters standing out. Vague underlying tartness. A lovely Hefe. 270206

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml fliptop bottle: poured butterscotch yellow with a HUGE white meringue head. Mild banana and hop aroma with a touch of clove. Flavor is pretty light in the banana phenol/spice department. More hops coming through. Mild metallica finish. Decent, if a light, hefe.

1.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
The last of the trio of nasty German hefes. Fizzy, banana, yeast. Watery. Little flavor of any kind. Bright yellow.

2.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Extremely banana aroma. Nice milky yellow appearance with a decent head. Quite boring flavor though. No real sweetness or bitterness. Basically, just carbonation.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Extremely citrusy. Fairly light in body and extremely drinkable. A delicious wheatbeer that’s evidently taken years to come to our shores. I’m glad it made the trip. Massive 3" head that I could do without, but the aroma was wheaty and terrific.

I tried this and, was disspappionted. The labels says 26-02-05 is that the born on date, or the bad date. I can not tell. this was really not good, I drank most of it, but the bottle is a keeper. This is the first ’05 on here, maybe it was bad.

German beers just don’t seem to be that popular on this site. I frequently pick a bottle out at the local store, and then discover when I go to rate it that only a handful have bothered. I get the impression it isn’t because of lack of distribution, but rather because of lack of interest. The poor weisse. Such a misunderstood style. But I digress. Pretty hazy yellow, nice, lasting head. Hard to get more attractive. Aroma was pleasant, bready with a touch of lemon and yeast. Flavor is of wheat, a bit of lemon, a touch of clove, all working in harmony. Not as complex as a Weihenstephaner, but an excellent example of the style nonetheless. Slight bite of carbonation detracts a hair.
