Sweet little keg that Sam’s Quik Stop apparently got for less than they were supposed to, so it was only $12.99... not bad for 10 pints worth. Pours a tan-tinted hazy golden with a creamy white head. Nose of fresh country bread, some mild floral hop notes, and creamy caramel. The malt comes forward more in the taste, including some corn and grain, but it’s still quite a refreshing beer with a delicate lemony note on the finish as well as a mild bitterness. Light palate. Simple and beautiful. I think I’ll go buy a few more kegs.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

Bottle. I bought this for the bottle (homebrewer), but I’ve also never had a Zwick’l, so that’s a bonus. Pours a pale gold. Slightly opaque when held to the light. I poured moderately aggressively and got a 1-2 cm head that dissipated into a thin film within seconds. Aroma is of toasty, bready maltmalt with some yeast, banana and clove esters and some other indecipherable fruitiness and a hint of sourness. It reminds me of a less-aggressive hefeweizen. Pretty good body and a sticky, lingering mouthfeel. The yeast flavor dominates, with only a slight bit of toastiness on the end. More hop bitterness than I expected. It’s still not much, but it’s detectable. I’m not a big fan of hefeweizens and that is what this beer most approximates to me. However, the yeast esters are less prominent and the bitterness and complexity are more appealing to me. Enough so that I can see myself buying more (especially for the bottles).

5l minikeg. It is a hazy orangeish gold with a large, foamy white head. The smell is light and grainy. The flavor is sweet and bready but with a nice touch of noble hops in the back. Not bitter but the hops are noticeable. I was surprised by this particular one.

I too got a sort of hay/sourdough aroma from the beer. Grassy hops. Some sweetness. Cloudy. Serving: Bottle

One of the rarer styles of beer. This pours a cloudy golden w/ a big head of medium bubbles. The nose is of sourdough and fresh cut hay. This is a full bodied lager w/ a faint hint of tartness to balance the sweetness and also bring out the more citrusy elements of the hops. Probably the closest widely available style this resembles is that of a Dortmunder export but this is sweeter and hoppier than that. My most major complain is this could use a firmer bitterness in the finish but, as it is, it is a very good beer.

Bottle. Poured hazy yellow color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium grass and malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and lively carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Soft brew.

Bottle. Hazy golden with a frothy head of medium duration. Slightly sweetish aroma of low intensivity, composed of bready malt, hay, some apples and hops. Malty taste with an aftertaste of herbs, honey and nuts, low bitterness. The beer’s main flaw is its flat, watery palate. With a more intensive aroma this could be a good brew.

500 mL swingtop from Total Wine West Richmond, VA. Pours a slightly hazy yellow color with a thin white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of toasted malts and floral hops. The taste is grain, toasted malts, faint nuts, raisins and floral, grassy hops. A citrus bite in the finish. Medium bodied.
