Rastacouere (5106), Saint-Lambert, Quebec, Canada Feb 17, 2008 Drank in the café of Zagreb’s university library..Marko was telling me that this changed a lot over recent years. I had never had it before, but as it is, it has little to do with a porter. As a started, it was very pale, clear red to dark caramel coloured. Its head faded fairly fast also. Its texture is certainly lager-like and there ain’t no roastiness in there. It could be a mediocre dunkel, as the maltiness possesses the nutty, almost leathery/plumy/apricot-like tang of munich malts. Its fatal flaw, to me, is the extreme sweetness. Syrupy fruitiness makes it hard to drink while the body is actually light-medium at most. jerohen (1416), Amsterdam, Netherlands Sep 21, 2007 Bottled at Tolkiens House, Zagreb. Clear brown coloured, small brown head. Malty aroma, some caramel. Sweet watery flavour. Short finish. Easy drinking, but not really complex. I’m surprised to see the high ratings. heavy (353), Split, Croatia Aug 25, 2007 Updated: Oct 13, 2007New review based on old, idiotic review:
0.33 l bottle. Poured reddish brown body with smaller medium creamy head. Aroma exactly what beer of its type has to have, it’s strong with chocolate, caramel, fruity... Flavor stays beyond a bit, quite watery for what I expected, but still interesting, fruity, caramel, some coffee... Finish is fine, wuite short and very pleasant. Here I have to mention I tried three more later, two latest were spoilt...yeah, drinkable, but sour like flemish sour ale. I think the brewery should pay a bit more attention to hygiene, obviously there are many rotten batches, as I’ve been warned already before...But besides, if ok, it’s really delicious. vjekoo (9), Croatia does not count May 9, 2007 medium body, creamy, soft carbonation, not so hard to find it in Croatia anymore, nice taste, not too much CO2, light caramelisation aftertaste. i think this is best Croatian beer. recommended.
