33cl, new brew Anno 2012, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex sweet Kriek, fruity/sweet and slightly sour/woody, not too heavy, balanced, clear, good head, nice brew

Aroma of candy like cherry and sweet malt. Rate beer has this as a fruit beer, it is actually a light sour... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Ik drink graag fruitbieren, maar dit was toch een van de slechtste dat ik al geprobeerd heb...

Sweet cherry beer based on the Barbe d’Or and a typical representative of the new trend of heavy, sweet cherry beers based on top-fermented Belgians, as is popular in especially Wallonia and France nowadays. Dirty pink, stable, mousse-like foam, colour a dark ruby red, darker than for example their Echt Kriekenbier. Aroma of cherry and blueberry jam, bit artificial, elderberry syrup, raisins, sour cream, hint of nutty malt. Taste sugary sweet, cherry candy, round and mellow, all built on a bready maltiness and more or less balanced out by a sourish, lemon-like hint, finish reveals some mild grassy hops. Never been a fan of this genre but this one is better than average.

Surtout ne pas confondre avec la Leffe Ruby, mélange artificiel d'arômes avec une bière banale... Celle-ci est une vraie bière aux cerises, avec une belle pointe d'acidité et une amertume assez fugace qui vient équilibrer le tout...

Draft. Dark purple. The taste reminds of cherry soda. Sweet sugary dark cherries with a rich finish and a touch of bitterness. Not my thing but interesting. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap a Grumpys NE, pours a reddish purple with s purplish pink head. Aroma of candy like cherry and sweet malt. Taste of sugary cherry candy some backing malt and copper. Pretty sweet, not bad though.

Bottle from Total Wine in Folsom, CA. Pours extremely darkly ruddy with a transient beige, pinkish?, head. Aroma of ripe cherry, though not the sour scharbiekse type. Med body, more or less. Flavor is slightly tart cherry. Again, not the most sour, but adequate for the job. I’m really liking this.

On tap at Specialty Beer Cellar. Dark garnet pour with a pinkish head. Big cherry aromas. Sweet malty base with sour cherry highlights. Vinegar, brown sugar, and caramel lowlights. Jammy with a good body and mouthfeel.

Bottle from Capone’s. Pours hazy and fizzy deep magenta. Nose is...Whoa Nelly lemme tell ya bout the nose, Bob Griese. Like freshly hand picked and hand juiced black cherries, right off my papa’s farm. The flavor is huge black cherry, with ample tartness from the fruit, plus some of the fruit fructose. This one is in the league of the New Glarus offerings. Finishes with tons of cherry flavor, some earthy tartness, and some sweetness late. This would pair well with cheddar cheese or chocolate, and I’ll be pairing it with both shortly, and in that order.
