Pours a dark red with a tan coloured head. Aroma is really complex, raspberries, sour cherries, apple cider vinegar, plums, raisins, vanilla, and a hint of molasses. Tastes of sour cherries, raspberries, apple cider vinegar, raisins, plums, molasses, green apples, vinous notes similar to a good French burgundy. Really nice, complex, nice carbonation, really good beer. One of the most interesting beers I’ve tasted also.

750 ml best before December 2009. Pours a lively dark brown with a good head. The aroma is very assertive and comlex. It is vinous with Belgian esters and pleasingly tart. Hints are made at cardamom, garden salad with vinegarette, and oak. The palate is thick and coating which really builds up the flavor. Sweet, juicy malts are here with a medium fruity sourness throughout. The thickness is certainly commendable, makes this one very savory. The finish has hints of garlic, wood, tart berries. This is so rich and lovely.

330 mL. Pours a clear deep ruby almost brown with a thin tan head that settles down and leaving good lacework. Aromas of apple cider vinegar, sour cherries, and barnyard funk. Taste is at first tangy and fruity like a lambic but then turns more into vinegar with dark fruits (plums, black cherries), brown sugar, and some saltwater taffy. Aftertaste is long with malt vinegar. This is my first sour ale. I guess the vinegar taste will have to grow on me.

Well decided to write a review for this one I have had many of these on tap But this one is from a 750. Bottle poured into a snifter produced a good of white head that goes to a ring of bubbles around the glass. The body is a clear dark burgandy it really is a nice shade at that. Aromas of sour cherries and funk filled my head. The aromas are not as good as from a draft but the fruit profiles are still good. A nice sweet tart thing develops with the flavors .It is much sweeter cherry than a Rodenbach but less than Kasteel Rouge. This brew is always a nice brew to enjoy with a meal. There is a nice feel in the mouth with enough carbonation to keep it crisp and dry in the finish. A very good example of a Flanders and a style that I truly enjoy I always grab this when I see it on tap. I found a bottle cheap up north I guess they didn’t know what they had. So it was a fine treat for a winter’s day

Deep dark amber colored with little light brown head. Tart raspberry and wooden aroma with some honey-syrupy note, mild plums and port wine also comes up, rich aroma indeed. Medium bodied. Flavor is also sweet with same plummy syrup and raspberries, aftertaste turns to sour one with raspberries still. Good one.

Served on draft at Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a vibrant red colour with a medium tan head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is very tart, almost vinegar and tannic, with notes of tart cherry and funk. Sweeter than expected taste with slight funk and sourness Strong cherry and grape notes as well. Full bodied,

surprisingly dark. half inch large bubbled muddy head. lacing lasts nicely. smells pretty woody, funky and musty. actually not too appetizing, but the flavor is redeeming. perhaps too sweet, but i like it that way. a lot of berry flavor, a bit thin middle profile on flavor. kinda taffyish. strangely the body feels really smooth but also seems pretty effervescent. not sure how to describe it. in any case, i could probably drink a lot of this if it was sold in 6 packs and was thus not so expensive

Crushed with Jakebra and Dadbra. Surprised to see this listed as a sour. More like a mild belgian. Nothing incredible. Very smooth however. Nothing much sour per se, but fruity and very highly carbonated gives it a nice mouthfeel. Re-rate: Crushed with Jakebra on tap at the Falling Rock. Very fruity and musty. Cranberries dominate the flavor. Nice, tart finish. Pretty excellent and very tasty.
