As I recall, this was a tasty brew. Miksu (2194), Jyväskylä, Finland May 4, 2008 0.25 l bottle. Ruby color with small head. Sweet and acidic aroma with strawberry, cherry and licorice. Sweet, sour and berryish flavor with notes of licorice, dark sugar and acetic acid. Too much sugary sweetness but still faily pleasant. wacho (51), Izegem, Belgium May 1, 2008 Robijnrood versnijbier met zoet fruitige smaak en met frisse doch speciaal zurige afdronk en een lage bitterheid obguthr (987), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Apr 26, 2008 Aroma is molasses and very nutty, with walnut and strong cashew notes. Clear brown with athin tan head and good lace. Sweet and nutty apple and cherry flavor. Candy and walnut present with traces of horehound. Peanut hull finish. Incredible complexity, but too sweet. I didn’t care for it. MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Apr 24, 2008 [bottle] Poured somewhat brown that turned ruby when held to moderate light. Big off white rocky head that lasted till it was gone. Aroma was tart apples, oak, and cherry. Flavor is actually pretty mellow and not terribly sour. Lots of apple character, woodiness from the oak, and some cherry. The sourness dissipates very quicky on the finish, instead leaving the fruity sweetness to linger. DandyWolfFloyd (331), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 23, 2008 I was intrigued by this beer from the initial glance at its art work on the box. I was even more excited to find out it would be my 1st sour ale. Drinking from a snifter, it’s aroma is very prominent with tart cherry, a little acidic as well. It’s appearance is a burgundy color, with a nice carbonated head. The flavor is rather complex with definite sour cherry, a bit vinuous flavor, and a touch of alchohol. It’s very pleasant to the mouth with a definitive carbonated feel, no astringent aftertaste if chilled properly. I’m not exactly certain this is one for session drinking, but it’s very much a pleasure. It reminds me of a fine wine, rather than a beer, but all is good. wheninhell (485), louisville, Kentucky, USA Apr 17, 2008 crystal clear dark brownish amber with a great fluffy white head that leaves great lacing. deep tart cherry aroma with hints of vanilla...and...uh...the aroma is great much more complex than my description. flavor great balance of sweet and sour. tart cherry slightly floral pear vanilla and something slightly musty. finish lasting medium dry tart cherry vanilla and pear. the finish is just a bit too sweet for my taste. great lively champagne like refreshing carbonation. A very nice beer. This would be great with dessert. MrStitch (138), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 17, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown with a thick egg shell colored head. Aroma was like vinegar, malt, cherries, must, funk, and markers. Taste was interesting cherries and malt playing nicely off of one another with a hint of vinegar much like the smell. Mouthfeel was medium bodied with a nice tangyness to it. An excellent sour ale that I will be having again.
