Bottle. Pour is a very dark red/brown with a thin tan head. Aroma is tart and sweet, dark fruits and some caramel and butterscotch. Tastes of fruit, apples and grapes come to mind. Balanced out with some sweet malt, like caramel apples. Not very sour for a sour ale. Silky smooth, medium body. Finish is a interesting, I get some apple peel, but then almost like burnt sugar. Not bad, very balanced and non offensive.

very dark amber color with a small head. weird smell that i just can’t place besides the fruit. very fruity taste almost like what i’d imagine nectar tasting like with strawberries, cherries and apples mixed together. it reminds me more of a wine than a beer though.

Pours deep ruby, garnet red. Little head but makes up for it in lacing. Piquantly sour aroma. Lactic acid lots of cherry flavors. Some sugary-candy elements and dirty sock. Velvety-syrupy in the palate. A little too sweet for my taste. Or is that the oak that bugs me? I don’t know. Quite interesting and worth revisiting now and again.

The first sour ale I ever had. Very little carbonation, smooth, very tart. The only complaint I have is that sometimes it has this deep burnt flavor mixed in with the sour that reminds me of barbeque. Weird.

On tap. Brown crimson color with a sweet almost cherry aroma. Flavor is bitter and sweet a the same time. It works though. The cherry aspect is awesome. There is also hints of oak and dried fruit. It is difficult to compare this to any other beer. Sour ales are in a class all their own. You either praise it or abhor it. I love this beer.

Bottle. Dark, almost cola dark, with lots of effervescence on glass and a modest, tight tan head. This beer resembles a root beer. Smells like vinegar, just god awful. Sweet, with a slight vinegar flavor. Very smooth. But, the vinegar flavor is just awful. Had to pour this out. Just awful. I gave it a 2 overall because it is smooth.

bottle- enjoyed this, but was not as sour as I was expecting or hoping. Rather, this had a nice tart (slightly sour), cherry/raisin flavor, followed by a strange and enjoyable toffee like finish that was smooth...Aroma was semi disappointing as I smelled a lot of the balsamic qualities others have written about. More sweet than sour in parts for sure, but very good nonetheless. Still, not as good as Rodenbach.
