3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear and golden amber/brown with substantial tan head. Berry, grape and lightly sour aroma. Fruity tannin sour flavor. I am not a big fan of sour beers but this one is the best I have tasted. Still it is not an "ordinary beer" in any way and it does not blend well with your typical beer foods. The sourness requires some getting used to and my friends who enjoy exotic beers were all turned off by it. I would compare this style to a cider more than a beer...

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours dark brown with a dark, average sized head. Aroma of cherry, pollen, rotten fruit. Nice and fresh mouthfeel, with medium carbonation. Taste is like lambic beers, very intense, with high sourness and sweetness, leaves a fresh finish.

Pours dark red/brown with a small head and a small amount of lacing. Aroma is vinegar with a hint of dark fruit. Taste is sweet/sour cherries, more dark fruit, bready, a little vinegar, with a lingering tart aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium with medium carbonation. Coats the mouth. It’s my first Flanders Red and I like it.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a chestnut color with some ruby highlights seen shinning throughout. Upon pouring there is a small white head that fades relatively quickly leaving only a trace of lace.
Smell- The aroma is of dark fruit and sourness. The dark fruits are mainly of a cherry aroma, but have hints of raisin and prune mixed within. Along with these sweeter smells comes a good dose of a sour and tart aroma of a mix of apple cider vinegar mixed with some sour lemon.
Taste – The flavor of the brew is a nice blending of sweet and sour/tart. Upfront there is a good showing of a sweeter cherry flavor mixed with some lighter notes of sour grapes. As the flavor advances the sweetness fades slightly while the sour grape flavor grows stronger. Some hints of a yeasty taste begin coming to the tongue as well as a more sour and tart vinegar taste. In the end a rather balanced sweet and sour fruited vinegar flavor is left to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is on the thinner side with a carbonation level that is rather average to slightly below average. The thinner body and moderate carbonation are fantastic for keeping the brew on the more drinkable side, but while still providing enough body to support the sour and sweet flavors of the brew.
Overall – A very nice sour that is extremely drinkable and very tasty. One of the most balanced and enjoyable sours I have ever had.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
I think this was my first sour and quite memorable indeed. Poured a clear dark ruby with a small off white head. Aroma was of wine, vinegar, and musty old basement. Tastes of grapes, cherries, plums, and quite vinous. Had a smooth low carbonated body. Was also sour and tart, but it flows over the tongue quite nicely.

As I was drinking, i was thinking to myself, this red wine-like beer would be great in my coq au vin. Has anyone done that? If so, how was it, let me know. Ta.

A great example of the Flemish sour. One of our favorites from keg, good from bottle. Expensive, but worth it.

Bottle 25cl. Red, almost brown with almost no top. Sour, fruity aroma. Taste has lots of fruits. Sweetness and sourness take turns. Good one!

I don’t get a chance to try a lot of sour beers. I tend to like them but this is off the charts great! Stop reading and drink this beer!
