COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Duchesee de Bourgogne is the traditional top fermented reddish-brown ale from the West-Flanders region of Belgium. This refined ale also known as "The Burgundies of Belgium" is a blend of 8 and 18 months old ales following careful maturation in oak casks. 100% natural and unpasteurized.

Pours flaming flemish red with a nice head that leaves some nice belgian lace. Aroma is fruity, woody with hints of vinegar. Taste plays on the sweet and sour theme with a balsamic-like character. A real nice flanders red that everyone should enjoy at least once... and then many times after that. I know I did!

19.2.2015. Foams a loott. Dark brown. Sour aroma with wine, vinegar. Taste is bittersweet, vinegar, darkfruits, also quite sweet despite tartness.

Bottle at the Elm Tree, Cambridge. Reddish brown, very little in the way of head or lacing. Vinegar and black cherry in the initial aroma. Further olfactory probation reveals oak chips, chocolate, cola nut, vanilla, a hint of lime. Sweet-sour taste, simultaneously intense and mellow. A fruity funky hit in the finish. Full body, nice amount of carbonation. Extremely good.

Ruby red with a lacing tan head. Sour oaky aroma. Sweet caramel and malt flavour. Light fruity notes with a lingering sweetness. The balance between the fruity sweetness, the vinous raisins and the sourness is near perfection.

Pours deep chestnut brown with a thick puffy beige head, very fine lacing, excellent retention. Aromas of dark cherry, oak, leather, toast. Medium body, good carbonation. Mildly sweet, extremely tart, just the hint of bitterness in the finish. Excellent sour ale.

Shared bomber, snifters. Pleasant brown-red color and sour fruit aroma. I panicked for an instant as I picked up vinegar as the beer crossed my lips, fearing it had gone bad. My fears were unfounded; it was as though I imagined I had sensed vinegar. Sweet, sour, tartness and mild carbonation all dancing on my palate. No one dominant character: red fruit, funky yeast, Definitely a "buy again."

Is this beer or balsamic vinegar? Disgusting. I don't know if this is really old or what it's supposed to taste like, but this was undrinkable.

Bottle. Appearance: Dark ruby red and clear, with a thick fluffy cream colored foam cap. Aroma: Lactic acid aroma, vinegar, light maltiness, hint of dark cherries Taste: Rich, sweet maltiness with dark fruit and cherry notes, earthy, leather, and a sharp, acidic tartness from the lactic acid. Mouthfeel: Medium body with an extremely high carbonation. Finish: Carbonation really pops on the finish, with lingering malt sweetness and acidic tartness. Overall: A true world class Flanders red, with a well balanced malt base against the sharp acidity and carbonation

ENG: 330ml bottle from Liquor Mart in Winnipeg, poured into the tulip. Very dark red, clear color, nice, thick, light-beige head and plenty of lacing. Aromas of fortified wine / cherry liquor, red berries, a bit of alcohol. Very strong and sweet. Tastes sour but also strongly sweet, a lot of cherries and red berries, vinegar. Delicate aftertaste, a bit salty deep in the throat, medium body, low to medium carbonation. Overall greatly balanced between sour and sweet. I like it most from all sour beers I tried up to date.

PL: Butelka 330ml kupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg, przelana do kieliszka. Barwa ciemno-czerwona, klarowna, ładna, gęsta, jasno-beżowa piana i dużo lejsingu. Aromaty wzmocnionego wina albo nawet nalewki wiśniowej, czerwona porzeczka, nieco alkoholu. Bardzo mocne i słodkie. W smaku kwaśnawe, ale i bardzo słodkie, bardzo mocno wiśniowe i porzeczkowe, do tego vinegar. W posmaku lekkie, nieco słone - głęboko w gardle, średnie odczucie w ustach, niskie do średniego nasycenie. Podsumowując bardzo fajnie zbalansowane pomiędzy kwaśnością a słodyczą. Najbardziej smakujące mi piwo z tego stylu jakie do tej pory miałem okazję spróbować.

Clear ruby, light brown/beige foggish head with bubble-islands and ring of lacing, good lacing. Strong sour-sweet aroma, lots of red berries, notes of strong red wine, bit earthy tones, funky back beat, leather. Would love to taste this with roquefort (well my ham-roquefort pizza is warming in oven). Medium body, round, medium strong carbonation, nice balance of sourness and sweet notes, long nuanced and lively finish. Natural, nuanced, tasty, one with character and soul, love it! It’s alive! Hmm..actually this is almost too overwhelming taste-bomb for even roquefort... I’ll enjoy rest as dessert.
