Into a snifter. Ruby colored with a two solid fingers of head.
Smells like cider vinegar, cherry and pear.
Fruity taste: cherry and pear again. A little malty sweet at the end with some lemon.
Champagne texture, lots of bubbles but not overly carbonated. Light body.
The vinegar smell actually fit well and thankfully didnít transfer into the taste. Top shelf here. An excellent all-around drink.

Bottle 33cl. Medium to small light brown head. Leaving a thin layer. Quite heavy body. Looks like candy. Aroma is oak, wine, permanent marker, rottening fruit and some gently hidden malt. Taste is fruit, wine, port and sugar. A desert storm.

Very distinctive beer. Takes quite a few tries before you start to appreciate it, but when you do start to appreciate the rich, sweet (even sour) taste itís an absolute favorite. One of Belgiums best.

Iíve been saving this one until the day I like sour reds, but now itís past itís BB date, so I guess Iíll have a go today, even though Iím still not a big fan of sours. It looks perfect, with a clear, deep red colour with a long-lived, eggnog head that laces the glass excellently. The aroma is strong, sweet and sour. Itís complex and actually very pleasant, I get sour notes of fermented fruits, dark caramel, acetic notes, rye bread and port wine. The flavours are equally complex: fermented fruits, cherries, red wine, faint vanilla and a touch of caramel. Itís quite sweet, and that makes the light acidity and sourness even more pleasant. The long-lasting finish is both sweet, sour, acidic and acetic, all in pleasant amounts. The body is almost full, the texture is oily and the carbonation is moderate. A lovely beer! Yay, Iím getting there!
[33 cl bottle, enjoyed 4 months after BB date, from Vinmonopolet Vika, Oslo]

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Keg @The Vintage, Leith. Pours brown with a very thin slightly off white head. Nose is sour, vinegar, red wine vinegar, some more sour notes, woody oak casks really comes through on the nose as well. Sharp on the palate, sharp/tart cherries. Its both sweet and sour and like to give this to a Chinese restaurant also give them some chicken/duck and see what they can do with it. Fantastic raspberry aftertaste. This is like a ribena should taste when you are hungover.

@ Greenís Liquor Store / Columbia SC --- Clear cherry mahogany with a 1" head that drops neatly to a off-white head, tiny dots of lace. Taste is a clean sour cherry malt. The taste grows in the palate before yielding to a slightly sweeter cherry in the finish. Very drinkable, an excellent example of the style.

If you donít like sours, why are you drinking this? Donít be dumb. I played beer pong with this beer with my brother at a bachelor party before. That was dumb. Crompt even left one in my fridge a couple of weeks ago.

Rate from tasting 28Feb14. 750 c&c pours medium brown with an off white head. Aroma of dark cherry, wet hay, candied sugar. Feels thick in the mouth with tart cherry, vanilla, vinegar, citric acidity.
