UPDATED: FEB 12, 2005 This rating is based on a tapped version. Served in its proper glass it was a dark brown with a 1.5 inch off-white head. Aroma was a mild sour fruit. Here is where the similarity between the bottle version and the tap version differ. The bottle version I have tried is sour and effervescent, the tap version is sweet and flat. I prefer the bottle version, which is my response with most Belgians.

Interesting. from the time it pours to the time you swallow its quite different. when it pours there is no head, then the head seems to rise from the depths and pulls togther to make a marvelous creation. it looks thick but interestingly its not when you drink it. the right work for the mouthfeel is silky. there is a mild amount of malt sweetness and cherry that makes this one a keeper.

Not a bad beer. A better version of Rodenbach. Fruity, sweety, some cherries and a sour aftertaste.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2009 This is a wonderful beer. A rare taste and a sourness that doesn’t offend. Quite delightful. I look forward to the next one. But how long will I have to wait?

25 cl bottle, bb 12.06.2016. Ruby coloured, hazy, with beige head that stands for a long time and nice lacing. Fizzy carbonation caused gushing. Aroma is acidic, fruity, somewhat winy. Very sweet, with winy and woody notes. Interesting, but definitely too sweet.

Pours clear amber, virtually no head. Aroma is weak at best, with sweet but also of a wine that is turning to vinegar. Initial flavor is slightly winelike, and reminds me of ducksauce at a chinese restaurant. Finishes slightly bitter, somewhat sweet. Not really one that I would sit back and enjoy. My wife and mother(who tasted it with me) both really enjoyed this.

I feel like I should like this more, but I don’t... Aroma is fantastically tart with hints of cherry and apple. Color is brown tinged with red. Taste is sweet, too sweet for my taste. Hints of cherry and citrus. Palate is rich and creamy. Just too sweet...

Sour taste, very sweet. No oak flavor despite being oak aged. Aroma smells mostly sour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
