blklab2007 (536), Connecticut, USA Feb 1, 2008 11.2 oz. bottle bb. 1/30/09 poured into a snifter has a dark cherry red color with steady slow carbination and a thick frothy one finger light tan head. aroma has tart cherry, light alcohol, plenty of sour funk, and a little wood. mouth feel is light and bubbly with a champagne like quality. flavors start with tart cherry, sweetness, and some nice wood character. has a lot of lambic like qualities but totally different at the same time. warms a bit to reveal more fruit and raisin and finishes so smoothly with a distinct dry taste. leaves my mouth watering for another sip and becomes more complex as it goes down.
swanmann (244), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Sep 1, 2008 The big bottle poured deep mahogany with cherry tones and fluffy tan head. Smells of dark fruits with caramel notes. The flavor is definitely fruity and sweet, with a slight alcohol warmth. It’s a good tasting sour, but not too complex. Medium bodied with sufficient carb. Very tasty. ogivlado (2313), Zagreb, Croatia Aug 31, 2008 Bottled(250ml). -Reddish/brown coloured, small pale tan head, sour wine like almost vinegar nose. The taste is also vinegar, very sour fruity, light spicy and lactic with notes of caramel, wood and maybe glue. Strong sourness in the finish. Didn’t impress me. Taverner (440), San Ramon, California, USA Aug 30, 2008 On tap at Papagos. Notes of horse blanket, banana and spice. Wasn’t very sour - more sweet than anything. Pours brown with white head. Pinball (417), Allerød, Denmark Aug 28, 2008 sour, acid.
looks, red light brown head,
flavor is sour, raspberries, strawberries. very nice for a sour beer. (first one i tasted which was not sour due to infection, was much better than the bad ones) minch25 (173), Columbus, Ohio, USA Aug 27, 2008 winey nose, almost vinegary, not entirely pleasant. clear auburn color, light but present head. sweet red berry flavor. acetic aroma carries over to the taste, giving it a very rustic character. interesting though a little off-putting. i can see tomato, pomegranate, and apple skins, especially as it warms up. just enough carbonation makes this pretty light and refreshing. retronasal grainy "cheerios" come out (does anybody else get this?). recommendable, if you can get past the vinegar. but for my money, go for the rodenbach grand cru ;)
