piscator34 (908), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Mar 9, 2008 Clear ruby in colour with spritzy carbonation. Aromas of mild wood and vinegar, before a canned sweet cherry note takes over. Some sourness in the mouth, along with a bit more cherry, some light malt, lemon, and a hint of wood. A strange mix of tart and sweet. If the sweetness didn’t taste so much like overly processed (or artificial) cherry, it would be much better off. Overall it kind of bridges the sour gap between Liefmans and Rodenbach Grand Cru. Not bad.
Scauca (245), Lovere, Italy Sep 5, 2008 Deep red with barely no head. Strong cherry aroma, wood and a bit vinous. Light bodied, little sweet with a dry end. Boutip (1769), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Aug 27, 2008 Bottle: Poured a deep red color ale with a rather large pink color foamy head with average retention and no lacing. Aroma consists of a load of cherries with some notes of oak. Taste is also a mix between loads of cherries that are sour but also lightly sweet but some light sour and tart notes with some oak presence also noticeable. Full body with some great carbonation and no appearance of alcohol. Very well done and definitely something I wish I could get more often. PilsnerPeter (1415), Flushing, New York, USA Aug 15, 2008 Tap at Ginger Man: Pours a nice ruby color with a creamy off white, lacing head. The aroma is fruity and fairly sweet with notes of candied/maraschino cherries, marzipan and almond paste. Sweet, yet welcoming. Nice chewy feel with mild carbonation. The flavor is dominated by sweet/tart cherry flavors. The presence is very natural, however, making it pleasant. Has some almond paste sweetness and tarter cherry characteristics of cherry skins/tannins. Doesn’t offer much funk/tartness or wild fermentation suggestions, but has a very natural fruit presence and is pretty tasty overall. An easy drinker. cgarvieuk (2388), Edinburgh, Scotland Aug 12, 2008 Cask at GBBF ... deep red ...Sour woody light fruit nose ... tart ligth hop and some cherry and little sour.
