4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Dark copper/brown with a great head. Bought a bottle at Dranken Geers in Gent. It has a malty, sweet aroma. It has that great Verhaeghe sweet/sour flavor with a hint of vinegar (in a good way). It must have the same base as Caves and Vichtenaar. Delicious, especially if you are an oud bruin freak like me.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Very cherry, sweet fruit aroma which carries through in the taste. Dark red-brown color. Tastes much more like a lambic than a flemish sour. Actually, it tasted like a cherry pop.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Garnet with a fleeting tan head. Aroma was sweet and vinegary and fruity. Very carbonated, spumante-like, thin and watery. Flavor was sour fruit, vinegar. Not very appealing.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at DrewLaPalooza 2004. Small sized tan head with fine-large sized bubbles that completely dissipated. Uncarbonated, transparent and a reddish-brown hue. Sweet, wine, alcohol, somewhat sour and fruity aroma. Excellent aromas! Yes, indeed! Sour, alcohol, wine flavor. Tingly mouthfeel. Medium bodied beer with sparse lacing.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
DrewLaPalooza. We popped the cap on this small bottle thinking there would not be enough to go around, but never-the-less, it made it. It poured a small head of finely sized off-white colored bubbles that left behind a most excellent sheet of lacing. The body was transparent uncarbonated and brown in color. We were at a loss for words to describe the aroma. It was very different, but it was excellent none-the-less. Wow! It was very nice. The mouth feel tingly and mildly sour not overdone like many Flemish Sour Ales. It does not pucker you up. The sourness smoothened in the finish. The flavor was very good too with mild sour notes malts and even a little brown beer flavoring. Perhaps that was why I liked it so much. It was the most notable beer at the event before we left.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Mahogony color with a big, tan, large bubbled head. Sour red wine vinegar nose, with oak and caramel.
Sweet grapey flavor with a lemony bite. Some caramel, light bitterness in finish.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark, chocolatey color with a big, fluffy head. Huge soda-popish bubbles. Aroma is very sour, slightly sweet, a little blander than I am used to from FSA. Taste is sour, a little thin and watered down, but still has a nice tart, vinegaresque quality. Finishes a little bitter.

4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JUL 23, 2004 DrewLaPalooza beer 3: wow - what an aroma - complexities beyond description - wine, sour, sweet, fruit, yeast - the total is beyond my recognition (nobody else had a good summation of it either). Flavor is sour tart, thin up front but somehow gaining body. Finish is strong like chewing on bark. Without a doubt, one of the best of this style. (Thanks for bringing this, Matt & Cindy)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Very sour, almost a little bit too sweet. It’s like an over-fermented Rodenbach Grand Cru, which I consider to be the benchmark for this style. Smooth and ciderlike, some vinegar. Tastes much more powerful and explosive than the aroma.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. I am not too experienced with this style, I thought this beer was way too fruity and sweet. Too much like cider in my opinion, lots of apples and candy sugar too. Still, not bad though.
