tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jul 18, 2004 Big, roated coffee and chocolate aroma. Opaque black with decent tan head that recedes to cover. Sweet, chocolatey flavour that finishes with roasted malt bitterness. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel and medium-full body. On tap at the Vermont Brewers Festival. DYCSoccer17 (2040), Davis, California, USA Jul 18, 2004 On tap at Vermont Brewers Fest. 3 oz sample. Aroma is roasty mocha coffee with some smokiness. Opaque black with some mahogany colors on the rims. Brown head. Start is sweet with notes of chocolate. The late middle to finish is somewhat absent. Smoke hints in the very tail end. Alcohol is well-hidden. Good, but needs some more body and a little more complexity. ChazyRPh (571), Chazy, New York, USA Jul 17, 2004 Sampled at the VT brewers fest. Black opaque with a chocolaty head. Roasted malt aroma, slight dark chocolate aroma too. maybe some burnt coffee in there too. Thin mouthfeel, dark chocolate to start...bitter malts to finish. smooth but too thin in my opinion. Give some more body to this guy and I think you have a nice beer. axilla (942), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 29, 2004 Sweet chocolate and roasted malt nose. Dark soda-like clack with a darker tan head. Kind of a chocolate and coffee taste with a berry sweet finish. Not bad. tidiaguy (168), Hawley, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 26, 2004 Dark black body with a small lite tan head. Roasted malt/ dark chocolate aroma. Flavors are sweet and chocolatey with a with a hint of licorice and dark fruit near the finish. Ends with a bit of a hop bite. A little lite in the body but not bad.
