We smoke our own malts over apple, maple and hickory woodchips to recreate this 17th Century Style robust ale. 22SRM

Draught at the brewpub. Rich roasted malt and coffee with lingering smokey notes and a touch of salt, nuts and maple, bittersweet finish. Probably one of their best brews I’ve had, pretty tasty and full bodied..

Aroma: roasty, coffee, smoke

Appearance: black, clear, tan foam, minimal head,

Taste: medium bitterness,

Palate: medium body, slick feel, soft carbonation, long finish, bitter,

Overall: A very smokey porter. Jet back with tan head. Has a somewhat coffee , tobacco, smokey aroma. Taste is bitter with subtle chocolate and lots of smoked malt. Very smooth and easy drinking. Not for those who dabble with smoked beer - this is for those who enjoy smoked beer.

tap at the brewpub - Pours very dark brown with a long lasting tan head. It has a roast coffee aroma. The flavor is smoky and roasty with good coffee notes. It’s medium bodied with a smoky finish. I thought this brew was very similar to the Mick’s Irish Stout but seemed to have more body.

A really nice porter, strong smokiness that starts in the nose and continues all the way to the last sip. Light smooth body that fits really well with the style and makes it a real drinkable beer.

Appearance : Pitch black.
Aroma : Nice bacon with roasted malt. Nice smoke.
Taste : Roasted malt and bacon. Light caramel and light butterscotch. Finish sweet roasted malt and smoke.
Overall : Nice smoke beer. More on the "bacon" side of the smoke spectrum than on the "ham" side. Nice smoke profile, nice roasted malt. I think it would have been better without the butterscotch notes.

Tap at Brewpub. Pours a nice very dark near black with a thin lasting head. Aroma is good smoked wood- maybe hickory or maple, earthy, nutty chocolate, toast, light burnt notes, some campfire. Flavor is toast, chocolate malts, nuts, wood, earth, mostly clean smoke, meaty, and as it warms there is a hint of fruitiness like raspberry. Pretty good.

Black pour. Sweet smoky hickory smell. Flavor is roasty, with smoke in the finish, and maybe a hint of tart dark fruit. Watery mouthfeel.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark brown to black with a medium sized lightly tanned beige head. Really nice smoke up front, hints of roast and malt behind it. Medium bodied, light coffee and roast with touches of plums before the smoke takes over. Lots of smoke, following through to a long campfire finish. Nicely done.

[Draft @ Vermont Pub & Brewery] Opaque black with a medium sized, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of applewood smoked malts, campfire, roast, cocoa, and burnt wood. Taste of bitter dark chocolate, roast, smoked malts, some dark fruits, and light alcohol in the finish.
