Bottle from De Hopduvel. Dark brown, thin layer of foam. Nose of roasted malts and caramel, some tart notes. Light sweet, bitter finish. Bit unbalanced. Ok.

Draft at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Pours dark brown with a medium tan head. Aroma of overripe dark fruit, raisins, rubber, caramel, toasted malts and boozey aspects. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Over medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Pours a dark, black and red color, with a beige head. The taste is a bit tart mixed with a roasted, coffee-like aroma. But the lack of balance between these flavors ruins it for me. A bit of a disapointement.

Bottled@HBF2015. Pretty much black colour, with a mediumsized brown head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is wood, some mild peated notes as well as some liquorice and mild wooden sourness to it as well. Flavour is liquorice, some wood, mild smoked notes as well as some burnt sugar and a mild sour wooden edge to it. Tasty, but I couldn’t figure out if the slight sour edge is a planned thing, or something spontaneous happening...

Pours a black beer with a medium, beige head. Smells malty, some chocolate, some coffee, some oak. Tastes malty, slightly bitter. Leaves a gentle bitter palate. Some oak and some of the roasted malts come trough in the aftertaste. Good beer but nothing to exciting.

Unclear dark brown beer with a creamy head that disappears quickly, high carbonation. Tastes like caramel, sour, smoke, wood, coffee and a little whiskey. Complex beer with lots of different flavors no standard stout.

Nice label. The beer is brown in color and the head is dissapearing quickly. Overall it’s not a bad beer but it’s highly dissapointing. It has very little to do with an English or US stout. It is watery in texture with quite strong carbonation. It has dry like clove flavor which is completly outside this style. The chocolate and other torrified aromas and flavors are very delicate. We get the whisky game though. It reminds a bit a cocacola with a hint of whisky to be honest.
