4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draught Fast gone greige head over red-brown shot black beer. Nice whisky & wood nose, and fruity esters mixing with alcoholic features, to a very complex aromaprofile indeed. Taste is blue mold cheese, vinous rather than spirit. Again the character is complex, with many fruity vectors. Backthroar real alcoholheat. Not really full bodied, and a tad undercarbonated. Ends with beautiful long-lasting main flavours. Gives the impression of being based upon Oud Bruin. Excellent try - again. Long, deep, complex beer that is very difficult to catch in words.

Black color with big head. Slightly sour, chalky aroma. Taste is very dry and metallic. Roasted malts. Very astringent in its metallicness. No barrel feeling... Not exactly my kind of beer. Plus it was served way too cold :(

Gedronken op bierfestival in Brugge 2015. Zwart met een crème kraag. Geur is mounting. Smaak is geroosterd vlees. Whiskey herken ik hier niet in terug.

Op fles staa: oakey moakey. Donkere roodbruine kleur met een goede lichtbruine kraag. Ruikt zoetig, fruit, hout beetje alchol. Smaakt beetje zurig, hout, iets vanille. Had er meer van verwacht.

Bottle at Cafe Local. Smoke, roast. Taste is great, don’t get the whisky, instead maple syrup. Initial skunk then maple syrup, light spice, ginger, interesting mix.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
(Verzet Oakey Mokey Wiskey Stout) Bottle 375 ml from ElManana, thanks! Served into a snifter, ABV 7.5%
Dark brown colour on the body, almost black, with a tall and thick tan head. Very good retention, medium lacing left around the glass.
Sour-ish notes on the aroma that seem to fade out as the beer sits in the glass but still present during the whole drinking. Some light roasted malts coming from the back. No whiskey notes whatsoever on the aroma.
Taste is sour, definitely infected this one. Grape notes, nothing else to taste, the sourness covers everything. A pity for the aging on whiskey barrels.
Medium thin body, tart on the palate, notable carbonation.
I hope the brewers will acknowledge the fact the beer is infected and won’t say "this is what we were aiming for. I was looking forward to drink this one, unfortunately is a disappointment. Almost undrinkable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark ruby, medium head, grate lacing. Aroma: very fruity with a special twist typical for wild yeast (although I have no clue whether they have been used). Taste: flowers and herbs coupled with wild bitterness. A very interesting beer but I have expected something different from a stout. Also, I didn’t notice any whisky although it apparently has been aged in whisky casks.

1.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottled @ Nuetniegenough. Sampled about 5cl. The aroma has tart citric hints, some tones of wood and roast but that’s far away. Hazy, dark brown coloured beer with no head. The taste is citric sour, some vinegar, tart. Not much there which reminds me of stout or whisky. According to waiter this is due to risk with barrel aging. But if you use decent whisky barrels there’s no chance, because 50-60% alcohol in the wood usually kills all possible infections. So guess they were old barrels then. Anyway. Infected stuff nonetheless.
